Location: Farnborough (5 days per week onsite)

Security Clearance: Active DV clearance preferred. Active SC clearance holders willing and eligible to undergo DV clearance will also be considered.

We are seeking an experienced Technical ServiceNow Architect to play a key role in the design, architecture, and delivery of a large-scale ServiceNow transformation programme within a highly secure environment.

This position will be responsible for leading the technical architecture and migration strategy for a complex on-premise ServiceNow deployment, ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient solutions that align with both business and operational requirements. Working closely with senior stakeholders, technical teams, and project leadership, you will provide architectural governance throughout the full project lifecycle.

This role requires a hands-on technical architect who is comfortable operating in highly regulated environments and has previous experience delivering complex ServiceNow implementations and migration projects.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end technical architecture for a ServiceNow migration programme.
  • Define and maintain the overall ServiceNow technical roadmap and architecture strategy.
  • Design scalable, secure, and supportable ServiceNow solutions in line with best practice.
  • Provide architectural oversight across platform configuration, integrations, data migration, and infrastructure components.
  • Lead technical discovery workshops with business and technology stakeholders.
  • Produce high and low-level architectural designs, technical specifications, and governance documentation.
  • Define migration strategies for transitioning from existing on-premise environments while minimising operational disruption.
  • Ensure alignment with security, compliance, and government standards within a secure environment.
  • Review and approve technical designs produced by development and engineering teams.
  • Act as the senior technical authority for ServiceNow architecture decisions and platform governance.
  • Collaborate with programme managers, technical leads, infrastructure teams, and third-party suppliers to ensure successful delivery.
  • Identify technical risks and provide mitigation strategies throughout the programme lifecycle.
  • Support testing, deployment, and transition activities to ensure a successful implementation.

Desired Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience operating as a Technical Architect or Solution Architect within ServiceNow environments.
  • Demonstrable experience leading ServiceNow migration projects, ideally involving on-premise deployments.
  • Strong understanding of ServiceNow platform architecture, integrations, workflows, CMDB, ITSM, ITOM, and associated modules.
  • Experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale ServiceNow solutions within complex organisations.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure, networking, cloud, and hybrid technology environments.
  • Experience working within defence, government, national security, or other highly regulated sectors.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage at both technical and executive levels.
  • Strong understanding of architectural governance, design assurance, and best practice frameworks.
  • Experience producing architecture artefacts including HLDs, LLDs, solution designs, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to lead technical teams and influence architectural direction across large programmes.

Candidates should hold one or more of the following ServiceNow certifications:

  • ServiceNow Certified Technical Architect (CTA) - highly desirable.
  • ServiceNow Certified Master Architect (CMA).
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA).
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD).
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in relevant modules.
  • TOGAF or equivalent architecture certification desirable.
