Lead the Engineering Transition from Construction to Operational Excellence

Are you ready to take ownership of one of London's most prestigious commercial developments from handover to world-class operations?

JLL is seeking an exceptional Technical Services Manager to spearhead the critical transition of a landmark 8-floor fit-out from construction completion through to seamless BAU (Business as Usual) operations for a global alternative investment firm managing $92 billion in assets.

The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to be present from day one—taking a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Mayfair from practical completion through systems commissioning, handover, and into full operational delivery. You'll be the technical lynchpin ensuring this critical environment, including live trading floors, operates flawlessly from launch day and beyond.

Location: Mayfair, London (5 days per week on-site)

Start Date: Immediate – ahead of Q1 2027 practical completion

Team Size: 7 direct reports

Own the Journey: You'll be embedded throughout the final construction phases, attending handover meetings, witnessing systems commissioning, and participating in familiarization training—ensuring nothing is lost in translation between the construction and operational phases.

Build Your Team: Recruit, onboard, and mobilize a high-performing engineering team of 7 professionals who will become the technical backbone of this premium facility.

Strategic Impact: Report directly to the Account Manager and play a pivotal role in establishing engineering standards, SOPs, and maintenance regimes that will define operational excellence for years to come.

Critical Environment: Support a sophisticated operation including trading floors where uptime isn't optional—it's essential. Your technical expertise will directly enable business-critical functions.

Dual-Site Engagement: Split your time initially between the client's existing offices and regular site visits to the new development, giving you unparalleled insight into client expectations and building performance requirements.

Your Mission

Phase 1: Pre-Handover (Now – Q1 2027)

  • Attend contractor handover sessions and witness testing and commissioning of all critical building systems
  • Participate in familiarization training
  • Build relationships with the construction team, M&E contractors, and specialist installers
  • Recruit and mobilize your engineering team ahead of go-live
  • Support implementation of mobilization plans, maintenance schedules, and operational protocols

Phase 2: Transition to Operations (Q1 2027 onwards)

  • Lead the seamless transition from construction to operational management
  • Implement planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programs across all 8 floors
  • Establish 24/7 operational readiness for critical systems supporting trading operations
  • Build strong client relationships and become the trusted technical advisor on-site
  • Drive continuous improvement in building performance, energy efficiency, and occupant experience

What You'll Manage

  • Building Services: HVAC, electrical distribution, UPS systems, generators, BMS controls
  • Critical Systems: Trading floor infrastructure, data center environments, enhanced power provisions
  • Life Safety: Fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, suppression systems
  • Compliance: Statutory inspections, health and safety standards, FM regulations
  • Team Leadership: 7 direct reports including mechanical, electrical, and multi-skilled engineers

What You Bring

Essential:

  • Proven experience managing technical services or engineering operations in premium commercial, data center, or critical environments
  • Strong leadership skills with experience recruiting, developing, and managing engineering teams
  • In-depth knowledge of building services, M&E systems, and statutory compliance requirements
  • Excellent stakeholder management—comfortable working with C-suite clients and senior leadership
  • Relevant technical qualifications (HNC/HND in Building Services Engineering or equivalent)

Desirable:

  • Experience in financial services, trading floor environments, or mission-critical facilities
  • Familiarity with new build handovers, snagging processes, and defects management
  • Professional membership (IOSH, BIFM, CIBSE, or similar)
  • Understanding of energy management and sustainability in commercial real estate
  • Track record of mobilizing new sites or managing construction-to-operations transitions
