पद का विवरण

ReOrbit is looking for Chief Software Architect to shape the global architecture and engineering strategy for next-generation cloud-native, AI-native and agentic software platforms across the satellite and telecommunications domains.

Reporting to the Head of Software Engineering, you will serve as the senior technical authority, translating business and customer priorities into secure, scalable, resilient and maintainable solutions. You will define reusable platform capabilities with architecture oversight, guide critical technology decisions, and remain hands-on through coding, design validation and rapid prototyping using AI-assisted development tools.

It's an exciting chance to join a dynamic start-up, with the opportunity to make a real impact, to reach our goal of pushing the boundaries of space data transfer.

Responsibilities

Architecture & Technology Strategy

· Define the global architecture vision, target state, architecture roadmaps, reference architectures and decision guardrails across product line(s) and engineering teams.

· Architect modern software components and platform using cloud-native, microservices, Kubernetes, event-driven and API-first patterns, with portability across cloud environments.

· Shape make–buy–partner decisions and strategic technology investments by balancing customer value, security, cost, resilience, delivery speed and long-term maintainability.

· Maintain direct technical engagement through hands-on coding, architecture decision records, design and code reviews, proof-of-concept implementations, and rapid prototypes created with AI-assisted development tools.

AI-SDLC & Agentic AI Architecture

· Institutionalize AI-SDLC practices across requirements, architecture, coding, testing, security validation, deployment and operations.

· Define governance for AI-generated code and engineering artifacts, including human oversight, evaluation, traceability, intellectual-property protection and outcome-based productivity measures.

· Architect a technology-stack-agnostic agentic AI platform with reusable capabilities for abstraction, orchestration, memory, observability, lifecycle management, policy enforcement and security.

· Establish API gateway, Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) patterns that enable secure interoperability, reuse and composability across agents and platforms.

Platform Engineering, Integration & Security

· Define reusable platform and integration capabilities spanning APIs, events, service orchestration, data mesh, developer self-service, hardware abstraction, automated CI/CD and DevSecOps.

· Embed secure-by-design and Zero Trust principles across identity, authorization, secrets, data, APIs, workloads and software supply chains.

· Guide open-source and third-party technology adoption, including licence compliance, vulnerability management, lifecycle risk and ecosystem strategy.

· Improve developer experience, service reliability, deployment consistency and onboarding speed through standardized, observable and automated platforms.

Skills and Requirements

· At least 15 years of progressive experience in software engineering and architecture, including leadership of large-scale, distributed and cloud-native platforms.

· A master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering or a closely related discipline.

· Mandatory hands-on coding capability and demonstrated skill in rapidly building and validating prototypes using AI-assisted software development tools.

· Deep expertise in Kubernetes, microservices, APIs, event-driven systems, platform engineering, DevSecOps, observability and secure software delivery.

· Practical experience applying AI-SDLC practices or delivering production-grade agentic AI platforms, including governance, evaluation and operational controls.

· A proven record of influencing global, cross-functional organizations and delivering major technology or engineering transformations with measurable results.

· Strong executive communication, systems thinking and the ability to convert ambiguity into clear technical direction, prioritized decisions and measurable outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

· Prior experience as a Chief Architect, Principal Architect, Distinguished Engineer or equivalent senior technical leader.

· Architecture experience spanning both satellite and/or telecommunications systems, particularly mission-critical hardware–software environments.

Experience with multi-cloud and edge platforms, service mesh, site reliability engineering, AI governance and open-source ecosystems

What does ReOrbit do?

ReOrbit builds the foundation for the next generation of space applications by transforming satellites into truly intelligent, interconnected platforms, defined by software. Our satellite design philosophy revolves around the idea that satellites must network, communicate with each other and thus improve mission efficiency. How can this be achieved? Thanks to a flexible software-first architecture, where all these aspects are dealt with upfront in the mission concept, as integrated functionalities.

ReOrbit’s top-notch team of software engineers and system architects develop in-house software, procure hardware from the best-in-class suppliers, and seamlessly integrate the components to create flexible and secure satellites. Today, we are a rapidly growing company building a very strong multidisciplinary team to support our activities. We are headquartered in Helsinki, Finland with a subsidiary in Bariloche, Argentina.

Working at ReOrbit

At ReOrbit, we are focused on building a strong team as we believe nothing can be accomplished without innovative, humble and curious minds working together on a common goal. We’re all about fostering an inclusive, dynamic environment where equality and diversity are our strength.

We offer

  • Challenging but rewarding environment – you will thrive if you are always reflecting on how to make things better. Your ideas will be heard.
  • Ambitious and supportive network of people, who are motivated to change the space industry, bringing expertise from both classic and new space .
  • Benefits such as lunch vouchers, events, parties, occupational health care and additional health insurance - but most importantly a possibility to be a part of a unique and diverse team, connected by similar mindset and sense of humor.
  • We like to spend time together! You can choose activities whichever is to your liking – runOrbit, climbOrbit; become ping pong or board games champion.
  • We support relocation and integration into Finnish society.

Join us in our journey of building software enabled satellites for secure communications

and, thus, creating the most compelling in space data flow company of the new space era.

The Company may require a security clearance for certain positions. Any such security clearance will be conducted in accordance with applicable law and the Company's relevant policies

For agencies: We do not accept unsolicited CVs for our open vacancies. Any CV sent to our team unsolicited will reserve us the right to pursue a candidate without obligation to the sender. At ReOrbit, we are spearheading a paradigm shift in the space industry through our groundbreaking software-first approach to satellite design and manufacturing. We are moving beyond the traditional, rigid model of single-use satellites, which has remained largely unchanged since the Apollo era, and are instead engineering the next generation of space systems. Our vision is to create a dynamic, interconnected, and sustainable space ecosystem. Through our innovative technology, we are making satellites autonomous, reconfigurable, and networked, effectively transforming them into 'flying routers' that can communicate and share resources in orbit. This creates a resilient and efficient in-space data flow, laying the foundation for a true Space Internet of Things. Our core innovation is a software-defined architecture that serves as the central nervous system for our satellites. This platform-agnostic software core allows us to treat hardware as a commodity, integrating the best flight-proven components from a network of partners without the constraints and high costs of in-house hardware development. This modularity enables unprecedented flexibility, allowing satellites to be reconfigured in-orbit to meet evolving mission demands for Earth observation, secure communications, and satellite-as-a-service clients. By embedding advanced functionalities like AI, machine learning, and edge computing directly onboard, we enhance mission efficiency, reduce reliance on ground control, and accelerate real-time data processing. ReOrbit is not just building satellites; we are building the essential infrastructure for the future of the space economy, aiming to expand universal coverage and close the digital divide around the world.
