पद का विवरण

Position Summary

Senior Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator is responsible for the performance, availability, security, recoverability, and operational health of enterprise database platforms. This is a hands-on senior role combining system DBA responsibilities with advanced SQL performance engineering. The DBA will identify slow and inefficient workloads, analyze execution plans and wait conditions, rewrite complex queries and stored code, tune indexing and configuration, and verify measurable improvements without compromising data integrity or application behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, patch, upgrade, monitor, secure, and troubleshoot production and non-production Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server environments.
  • Review database and instance configuration, memory, CPU, storage, I/O, parallelism, TempDB or temporary tablespaces, optimizer settings, statistics, and maintenance strategies.
  • Proactively identify slow, high-cost, blocking, frequently executed, or resource-intensive SQL using platform telemetry and workload history.
  • Analyze Oracle execution plans, AWR/ASH reports, SQL Monitor, wait events, session activity, and optimizer behaviour; use SQL Tuning Advisor appropriately and validate recommendations.
  • Analyze SQL Server actual execution plans, Query Store, Extended Events, DMVs, wait statistics, blocking, deadlocks, memory grants, spills, parameter sensitivity, and plan regressions.
  • Review and rewrite SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, views, jobs, and batch processes to improve performance, scalability, maintainability, and correctness.
  • Design and tune indexes, statistics, partitioning, query patterns, hints only when justified, and data-access strategies while controlling write, storage, and maintenance overhead.
  • Establish repeatable performance baselines; document findings; test changes with representative data and workloads; compare duration, CPU, logical/physical I/O, waits, reads, plans, and concurrency before release.
  • Own backup, restore, recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, replication, integrity checks, capacity planning, and recovery testing for both platforms.
  • Support Oracle Data Guard/RMAN and SQL Server Always On, log shipping, Database Mail, SQL Agent, and native backup/restore technologies as applicable.
  • Investigate incidents, blocking, deadlocks, failed jobs, corruption alerts, storage growth, capacity constraints, and database availability issues; complete root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Implement database security, encryption, auditing, least privilege, service-account controls, privileged-access practices, and compliant handling of PHI/PII.
  • Automate repeatable DBA tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, PL/SQL, SQL*Plus/SQLcl, shell scripting, and source-controlled deployment processes.
  • Partner with developers, architects, infrastructure, security, support, and vendors; provide code-review guidance and mentor other DBAs and engineers.

Required Qualifications

  • Senior-level production DBA experience supporting both Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server in business-critical environments. Senior Oracle & SQL Server DBA
  • Confidential recruiting document JOB REQUISITION | DATABASE ENGINEERING
  • Expert-level SQL performance tuning and proven ability to review, rewrite, and optimize complex Oracle SQL/PL/SQL and SQL Server T-SQL.
  • Deep understanding of cost-based optimization, cardinality estimation, join strategies, access paths, statistics, indexing, parameterization/bind variables, plan stability, and concurrency.
  • Hands-on experience with Oracle AWR, ASH, execution plans, wait events, RMAN, Data Pump, Data Guard, and diagnostic or tuning tools.
  • Hands-on experience with SQL Server Query Store, execution plans, DMVs, Extended Events, wait statistics, indexing, SQL Agent, backup/restore, and Always On or log shipping.
  • Strong knowledge of database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, migrations, security, backup/recovery, HA/DR, monitoring, and capacity planning.
  • Ability to distinguish query, schema, statistics, configuration, infrastructure, locking, application, and data volume causes of poor performance.
  • Experience tuning without relying on unverified hints or indiscriminate indexing, and ability to explain the risks and tradeoffs of each recommendation.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, change-management, communication, and technical leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Eight or more years of database administration and performance-engineering experience across Oracle and SQL Server.
  • Oracle Certified Professional and/or relevant Microsoft database or Azure certification.
  • Experience with SQL Server 2025 and supported standard Oracle releases, including hybrid or Azure-hosted workloads.
  • Experience with Azure SQL, Managed Instance, Oracle on Azure, Linux, Windows Server, SAN/storage performance, and virtualization.
  • Experience with data warehouses, ETL/ELT, CDC, replication, large databases, partitioning, bulk loads, and high-throughput transactional systems.
  • Experience in regulated healthcare or another environment subject to HIPAA, SOC 2, PHI/PII, audit, and formal change-control requirements.
