Job Summary

We are hiring a Lead Product Manager (P5) to lead strategy and execution for next-generation products in Nielsen's Ad Intel portfolio. This is a senior, high-visibility role responsible for incubating and scaling products that give clients visibility into competitive advertising activity, spend, creative strategy, and cross-media/cross-platform ad performance. You will provide expertise in solving unique, complex problems with broad impact on the business, contribute to strategy development, and lead teams and projects that guide cross-functional groups to discover, validate, build, and launch differentiated solutions across the advertising landscape.

Roles and Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Innovation

  • Define the multi-year product strategy for Nielsen's Ad Intel suite, spanning traditional (TV, print, radio, outdoor) and digital/social ad tracking.
  • Identify whitespace and monetization opportunities across creative intelligence, spend estimation, competitive benchmarking, and cross-media ad exposure measurement.
  • Partner with data science, measurement, and engineering teams to productize proprietary ad detection, classification, and spend-modeling capabilities.

Customer Discovery & Market Fit

  • Lead structured customer discovery with brands, agencies, media owners, and platform partners to surface unmet needs in competitive ad intelligence.
  • Validate product-market fit through alpha/beta programs and signal-based experimentation across ad formats and channels.
  • Represent the voice of the market in prioritization and roadmap decisions, balancing client demand with technical and data feasibility.

Execution Leadership

  • Drive rapid incubation, validation, and scaling of new Ad Intel capabilities from 0-to-1 through to enterprise-grade deployment.
  • Collaborate with engineering, data science, UX, commercial, and external data partners to deliver differentiated, defensible products.
  • Set clear OKRs and lead outcome-based execution from MVP through scaled rollout, owning tradeoffs across scope, data quality, and timeline.

Go-to-Market & Partner Strategy

  • Partner with GTM, partnerships, and commercial teams to shape pricing, packaging, and positioning for Ad Intel products.
  • Engage strategic data and platform partners (e.g., ad exchanges, creative repositories, social platforms, clean rooms) to expand coverage and data depth.
  • Support sales enablement and client-facing teams with product narratives, competitive positioning, and value articulation.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree or specialized certifications preferred.
  • Typical Experience: 10- 15 years of experience with a strong reputation as an expert in advertising intelligence, programmatic media, or related product domains.
  • Skills

  • Top-tier expertise, leadership in innovation, and strategic project management. Proven ability to shape strategies and lead complex initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of the advertising ecosystem — media buying, creative strategy, competitive intelligence, and cross-platform ad measurement.
  • Track record of launching 0-to-1 products and scaling innovation within a matrixed, data-driven organization.
  • Strong analytical and technical fluency — comfortable working with large-scale data pipelines, APIs, classification/ML models, and measurement frameworks.
  • Skilled at stakeholder management and cross-functional influence across engineering, data science, commercial, and executive stakeholders.

What began in 1923 with Arthur C. Nielsen, Sr. borrowing $45,000 to test the performance of industrial manufacturing machines, evolved into a global leader in audience measurement, data, and analytics. The A.C. Nielsen Company, incorporated in Chicago, Illinois, initially focused on engineering performance surveys, marking itself as the first company to offer market research. A pivotal moment arrived in 1932 when the company created a retail index tracking food and drug purchases. This innovation was the first of its kind, allowing companies to determine their 'market share' – a concept Arthur C. Nielsen is credited with coining. Despite early financial struggles, nearly going bankrupt twice, the company found its footing by analyzing retail food and drug sales, which became a cornerstone of its business. The 1940s saw Nielsen venture into radio program ratings after acquiring the Audimeter, a device that measured radio station tuning. This expanded into a national radio rating service by 1942. The company's most widely recognized contribution, however, began in 1950 with the measurement of television audiences, a nascent medium at the time. Using a combination of devices attached to televisions and viewer diaries, Nielsen developed its iconic ratings system. Over the decades, Nielsen underwent significant transformations, including acquisitions and divestitures. It was acquired by Dun & Bradstreet in 1984 and later split into Nielsen Media Research (TV ratings) and AC Nielsen (consumer shopping trends) in 1996. Dutch publishing company VNU acquired Nielsen Media Research in 1999 and later AC Nielsen, recombining the two in 2001. VNU itself was acquired by private equity firms in 2006 and renamed The Nielsen Company in 2007. More recently, in 2021, Nielsen completed the sale of its Global Connect business (formerly AC Nielsen, now NielsenIQ) to focus on its Global Media division, solidifying its role as a pure-play media audience measurement and analytics firm. In 2022, a group of private equity investors led by Elliott Investment Management acquired Nielsen. Today, Nielsen operates in over 100 countries, shaping the future of media by providing trusted intelligence on audience behavior across all channels and platforms.
