Role OverviewWe are looking for a hands-on Software Engineer – Quality Assurance with strong experience in API testing, UI automation, backend validation, and end-to-end quality ownership.The role involves testing cloud-based platforms with multiple APIs, microservices, AWS components, third-party integrations, and frequent deployments. The ideal candidate should be capable of understanding complex business workflows, identifying risks, developing effective test coverage, and taking end-to-end ownership of quality.Experience in fintech, payments, banking, SaaS, or other transaction-heavy systems would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities1.Test Planning & Execution

• Understand business and technical requirements and translate them into detailed test scenarios.
• Create and execute functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end tests.
• Test positive, negative, boundary, permission, and failure scenarios.
• Validate complex workflows involving multiple services.
• Identify regression impact and define appropriate smoke and regression coverage.
• Participate in requirements and technical-design discussions.
• Support release validation, production smoke testing, and incident investigation.

2.UI & API Automation

• Build and maintain UI and API automation using Cypress.
• Develop reusable and maintainable Cypress automation frameworks.
• Use Cypress intercepts, fixtures, custom commands, sessions, environment configurations, and reporting.
• Automate critical business workflows and regression scenarios.
• Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines.
• Review automated-test results and troubleshoot pipeline failures.
• Investigate flaky tests and continuously improve automation reliability.

3.API & Backend Validation

• Validate REST APIs, JSON payloads, schemas, headers, status codes, and error responses.
• Perform API and backend service testing across distributed applications.
• Validate databases and third-party integrations.
• Test authentication and authorization scenarios involving JWT, OAuth, roles, permissions, and scopes.
• Perform SQL and NoSQL database validation.
• Validate asynchronous processes including queues, events, webhooks, retries, batch jobs, and failure-recovery scenarios.

4.Microservices & Distributed Systems Testing

• Test applications built using microservices and distributed architectures.
• Validate service-to-service interactions and complex business workflows.
• Test failure scenarios, retries, timeouts, duplicate handling, and recovery mechanisms.
• Identify integration risks and dependencies across services.
• Perform end-to-end validation across multiple services and external systems.

5.AWS & Cloud Testing

• Investigate application and integration issues using relevant AWS services.
• Work with services including Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, SNS, SQS, Kinesis, and IAM.
• Analyze application logs, monitoring data, API responses, and cloud-service behavior during troubleshooting.
• Support testing of serverless and event-driven applications.
• Validate AWS-based integrations and production workflows.

6.Defect Management & Troubleshooting

• Raise clear and actionable defects with business impact, evidence, reproduction steps, and expected behavior.
• Investigate failures using API responses, application logs, browser developer tools, and AWS monitoring.
• Perform root-cause analysis for test and production issues.
• Communicate testing progress, blockers, defects, and release risks clearly.
• Work closely with developers, Product Managers, DevOps engineers, and QA teams to resolve issues.

7.CI/CD & Engineering Practices

• Integrate Cypress automation with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
• Work with Git, branching strategies, merge requests, and code-review practices.
• Support automated test execution as part of deployment pipelines.
• Maintain reliable test data, environment configuration, and cleanup processes.
• Follow automation, coding, documentation, and QA best practices.

8.AI-Assisted Testing & Continuous Improvement

• Use AI tools responsibly to improve requirement analysis, test design, automation, documentation, and troubleshooting.
• Use AI for test-case generation, edge-case identification, automation support, and technical documentation.
• Review and validate AI-generated outputs before implementation.
• Consider security and data-privacy implications when using AI tools.
• Contribute to improving QA processes, automation standards, testing efficiency, and release quality.

Required Technical Skills & Competencies

• 5+ years of hands-on QA and automation experience.
• Strong experience in API and backend testing.
• Strong hands-on experience with UI and API automation using Cypress.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience building and maintaining reusable Cypress automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of Cypress intercepts, fixtures, custom commands, sessions, environment configuration, and reporting.
• Strong REST API testing experience.
• Experience validating JSON payloads, schemas, headers, status codes, and error responses.
• Understanding of authentication and authorization concepts including JWT, OAuth, roles, permissions, and scopes.
• Experience testing microservices and distributed applications.
• Understanding of asynchronous processing, retries, timeouts, duplicate handling, and failure recovery.
• Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database validation.
• Strong understanding of smoke, functional, integration, contract, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Good knowledge of Git, branching, merge requests, and code-review practices.
• Experience integrating Cypress automation with CI/CD tools.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis capabilities.
• Basic understanding of performance, security, and data-privacy testing.
