Technical Operations Analyst II

We are seeking a highly analytical Data Analyst II / Senior Data Analyst to turn complex data into clear, actionable product and operational insights. This role is designed for a strong SQL practitioner who can independently investigate ambiguous business questions, build trusted data pipelines and reporting foundations, and partner with stakeholders to improve how decisions are made.

The ideal candidate brings a product-analyst mindset. They connect user and business needs to measurable outcomes, define meaningful metrics, identify trends and root causes, and communicate recommendations clearly. The role will also contribute to internal tools and workflows built with n8n, Databricks, and Looker. Familiarity with the internal product suite is helpful but not required.

This individual will operate with a high degree of ownership, influence partners through data, and raise the quality and scalability of analytics practices across the team.

Success in this role means

  • Stakeholders make faster, better decisions because insights are timely, trusted, and connected to business or product outcomes.
  • Critical data pipelines and analytical datasets are reliable, documented, maintainable, and scalable.
  • Metric definitions and reporting are consistent across teams, reducing confusion and duplicated effort.
  • Product and operational questions are translated into actionable analyses, recommendations, and measurable follow-through.
  • Analytics work increasingly supports self-service, automation, and repeatable decision-making.
  • Cross-functional partners view the analyst as a thought partner with strong technical depth and product judgment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the end-to-end analytics lifecycle for priority questions and initiatives, including problem definition, data discovery, metric design, analysis, and recommendations.
  • Design, build, and maintain reliable data pipelines, datasets, and analytical models that support recurring insights and self-service reporting.
  • Write advanced and efficient SQL to transform, join, validate, and analyze large and complex datasets.
  • Apply product analytics techniques to understand user behavior, adoption, engagement, retention, funnel performance, and operational outcomes.
  • Translate ambiguous business and product questions into structured analyses, hypotheses, measurement plans, and clear decisions.
  • Partner with product, engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams to define success metrics and establish trusted sources of truth.
  • Develop and improve Looker dashboards and reporting to ensure visualizations are useful, accurate, documented, and actionable.
  • Investigate data quality issues, reconcile discrepancies, and establish validation practices that improve confidence in reporting and insights.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive analytics and operational workflows, including providing analytical input to tools built with n8n and Databricks.
  • Present findings to technical and non-technical audiences, clearly communicating implications, limitations, trade-offs, and recommended actions.
  • Mentor peers, share analytical best practices, and contribute to standards for data modeling, documentation, metric definitions, and reusable analysis.

Who You Are

  • You have strong SQL skills, including complex joins, common table expressions, window functions, aggregations, query optimization, and data validation.
  • You have experience building or maintaining data pipelines, analytical datasets, or transformations used by downstream stakeholders.
  • You have experience in product, business, or operational analytics and can turn analysis into clear recommendations.
  • You have a strong understanding of analytical concepts such as metric design, cohort analysis, funnel analysis, segmentation, experimentation fundamentals, and root-cause analysis.
  • You are comfortable working with incomplete information, asking the right questions, and creating clarity in ambiguous problem spaces.
  • You communicate effectively and can explain analytical findings and limitations to non-technical audiences.
  • You demonstrate ownership from problem definition through delivery, adoption, and ongoing improvement.
  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in analytics, data science, statistics, computer science, business, economics, or a related field. Equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • Experience with Databricks or a comparable cloud data platform.
  • Experience with Looker or another modern business intelligence and semantic-layer platform.
  • Experience with workflow automation tools such as n8n, or a demonstrated interest in improving analytics and operations through automation.
  • Familiarity with data modeling practices, dimensional modeling, dbt, version control, or software development lifecycle practices.
  • Experience partnering with product managers, designers, engineers, or operations leaders in a product environment.
  • Familiarity with the organization’s internal product suite, tools, or workflows.
  • Experience improving analytics standards, mentoring analysts, or influencing cross-functional decisions without direct authority.
  • You are deeply curious and enjoy getting to the root of a problem.
  • You hold a high bar for data quality and are comfortable challenging assumptions respectfully.
  • You balance technical rigor with pragmatism and know when a simple solution is the right solution.
  • You communicate early, document decisions, and make your work reusable for others.
  • You are comfortable operating independently while actively building alignment with partners.
