Smithville Communications is looking for an organized individual to join our Warehouse team! Reporting to the Manager of Telecom Operations, the Warehouse Technician supports daily warehouse operations to ensure technicians have the materials and equipment needed to serve customers. This role is responsible for receiving and storing inventory, fulfilling supply requests, maintaining inventory records, conducting cycle counts, and operating warehouse equipment. The position also helps forecast inventory needs, order supplies, and stage materials to support efficient field operations.You will regularly use a computer, phone, and forklift to support daily warehouse operations. A meaningful part of this role involves planning and scheduling — forecasting needs, ordering supplies, and staging materials so field technicians can depart on time without interruption.Success in this role requires strong organization, attention to detail, sound judgment, and collaboration with internal teams, technicians, and vendors.WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Receive and properly store incoming products and merchandise; enter receivables into computer inventory and billing systems
- Process supply requests, prepare merchandise for delivery, and pack shipments according to established procedures
- Maintain accurate records and reports to support tight inventory control and security
- Conduct physical inventories and perform labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as needed
- Safely and efficiently operate all warehouse equipment, including a forklift, pallet jack, and hand truck, following prescribed work methods
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
- Deliver outstanding service in every interaction with internal and external customers
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior warehouse training or experience is preferred but not required
- 2 to 3 years of customer-facing experience with strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow basic safety procedures and precautions in a physically active environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Proficiency with or the proven ability to learn computer systems, including MS Office and warehouse and inventory management software
- Experience with, and the ability to safely operate, material handling equipment such as a forklift and pallet jack
- Ability to work independently while also contributing as a strong team member
- Comfortable adapting to shifting priorities and working under tight deadlines
- Strong sense of urgency with keen attention to detail, quality, accuracy, and organization
- Ability to detect color (color vision)
- Ability to obtain and maintain Smithville's forklift certification
- Ability to take and pass a drug test and background check
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
