What You’ll Do
- Embody the mission and values of Atlas Preparatory School by creating a rigorous, inclusive, and joyful learning environment
- Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate computer science lessons that align with Colorado Academic Standards and reflect current industry practices
- Teach foundational and advanced concepts such as programming (e.g., Python, JavaScript), algorithms, data structures, and digital citizenship
- Guide students through hands-on coding projects, real-world problem-solving tasks, and software or hardware exploration (e.g., web design, robotics, app development)
- Serve as an advisor to a group of students and their families, providing regular communication, problem-solving support, and scheduling and attending all quarterly family conferences
- Build strong, trusting relationships with families through active engagement aimed at understanding their backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences
- Create and maintain a classroom culture of respect, curiosity, collaboration, and high academic expectations
- Design and analyze assessments (daily, interim, and end-of-year) to measure student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Analyze testing data to support student growth goals and inform instructional practice
- Document and maintain syllabi, assignments, coding projects, and lesson plans for school-wide retention and instructional consistency
- Collaborate with colleagues and instructional coaches with sincerity and a growth mindset
- Provide classroom coverage during staff absences (compensated additionally)
- Draft and revise student report cards that accurately reflect achievement in computer science and personal growth areas
- Participate in professional development to stay current with trends in computer science education and to improve instructional practice
- Maintain and support a high-expectations school culture through consistent systems and student support
- Support the summer program and contribute to school events including field trips, academic support sessions, and community-building activities
- Support daily operations such as arrival, dismissal, lunch supervision, and transitions
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Compensation & Schedule
- Salaried/Exempt
- Signing Bonus: $1,000
- Annual Salary Range*: $50,500 - $63,549 (DOE)
- Full Time; Monday – Friday; Occasional evenings and weekends as needed

- Please note this includes 3 days of orientation for new staff. Following years will consist of only 209 work days.

Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Able to meet “in-field status” for the position with one of the following:
- Colorado Department of Education License with endorsement in Computer Science
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
- 24 completed credit hours aligned with CDE requirements
- Completed/passed the PRAXIS 5652 within the last 10 years
- Ability to successfully pass all required background screening pursuant to CRS § 22-30.5-110.7
- Experience with or interest in coaching robotics, coding clubs, or technology-related extracurriculars
- Full commitment to educational equity and a joyful, rigorous learning experience for all students
- High ownership for student outcomes and commitment to continuous instructional improvement
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and colleagues
- Self-motivation, initiative, and a team-oriented mindset

Desired Qualifications
- Bilingual: Spanish & English or experience working with bilingual/multilingual students
- Successful experience in an urban classroom setting, with strong systems, high expectations, and a joyful student-centered environment
Essential Job Functions
- Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and walking
- Must be able to fulfill duties in person, including using classroom technology
- Must be able to reach, stoop, kneel, push, and pull
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to navigate all areas of the school and attend off-site events as needed
