A 4th Grade Teacher at Community Christian Academy will
- Work work within a flexible Elementary school program and provide a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth
- Establish effective rapport with students
- Motivate students to develop skills, attitude and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper school education in accordance with each student’s ability
- Establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Qualifications
- Must have a faithful testimony of salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
- Must believe that the Bible is God’s Word and standard for faith and daily living.
- Must be in support of Community Christian Academy's Statement of Faith (ccacougars.net/statement-of-faith)
- Shows by example the importance of prayer, Scripture memorization and study, witnessing and unity in Christian fellowship.
- Follows the biblical principles of restoration in dealing with students, administration and staff.
- Encourages and directs in Christian service activity.
- Experience working with elementary school students is preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Responsibilities
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to:
- Teaches reading, language arts, writing/penmanship, social studies, mathematics, science and health to students in a classroom utilizing course of study adopted by the Administration, and other appropriate learning activities.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Uses a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
- Communicates with parents through email and other means to discuss students’ progress and interpret the school program.
- Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards and interest centers.
- Assist in selecting books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records.
- Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
- Administers group standardized tests in accordance with IOWA Achievement Test requirements.
- Participates in maintaining cleanliness/order of classroom, snack/lunch area on the large playground.
