What You’ll Do:
- Interpret blueprints, sketches, and specifications to plan and fabricate dies, tools, and assemblies.
- Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machining equipment.
- Assemble, modify, and repair tools, gauges, jigs, and dies.
- Verify part accuracy using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
- Troubleshoot tool performance issues and perform maintenance and manual operation of progressive dies.
- Recommend design improvements based on function and construction of existing tooling.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area following 6S standards.
- Support production teams by designing work aids like templates and jigs.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3–5 years of experience in tool and die making.
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret dimensions and tolerances.
- Skilled in using a variety of machine and hand tools.
- Strong understanding of design principles, precision measuring instruments, and basic trigonometry.
- Associates degree or vocational certification in a related field is a plus.
