General Description of position: Assemble and disassemble die cast dies and tooling components to complete all fit and function processes to make sure die/tool is ready for the customer's use.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Under minimal supervision, perform a variety of tasks which require a knowledge of fabrication techniques, tools, materials and equipment.
2. Performs turning, boring, drilling, polishing, grinding and threading to maintain dies and fabricate replacement parts as needed.
3.Uses precision measuring devices such as micrometers, dial calipers and indicators to verify work compliance with established shop practices and drawing specifications.
4. Constructs components and parts to extremely close tolerances which may have unusual, nonstandard and complex shapes.
5. May work with nonstandard materials.
6. May devise and utilize nonstandard procedures.
7. Works from engineering drawings, sketches, verbal instructions or existing parts to produce gages, tools, parts for machines, molds and other equipment.
8. Inventories all parts and fittings at the beginning of each job; check the bill of material.
9. Mentors and trains Trainees and Assembly I.
10. Sees problems before they occur and knows when to ask for help when problems arise to minimize time wasted on the job.
11. Accumulates parts, assembles, and disassembles die cast dies and/or tooling components.
12. Conduct hole lapping with an abrasive to allow pin to slide through freely.
13. Perform surface grinding of support pillars and lock blocks, cut and grind ejector pins
14. Able to fit slides and parting lines as to minimize flash.
15. Knows how to plumb dies according to blueprint layouts and conduct pressure check.
16. Plugs and pressure check water lines in cavities and/or mold bases.
17. Operates a chain hoist, using eye bolts.
18. Performs die checks with engineering
19. Oversees the job to ensure work is completed correctly and in a timely manner before it leaves the facility.
20. Maintains safe work habits and good housekeeping at all times.
21. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
We are ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) certified, therefore all applicants must be a U.S. Person or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
Requirements: This requires a minimum of 5 years experience as a Tool and Die Maker working with die cast dies or plastic injection molds. Must possess the ability to operate all manual machines in the shop. Tig welding a plus.
