Job Description Summary / TWC Summary

The Assistant Professor will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition and dietetics and advise students in the areas of nutrition and dietetics; advise students; engage in and publish research and present at professional meetings.

Essential Duties Summary

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in nutrition and dietetics. Advise students in the areas of nutrition and dietetics. Collaborate with nutrition and dietetics and HSCS faculty as appropriate for enhancing instructional delivery and contributing to departmental goals. Supervise undergraduate nutrition and dietetics students in clinical and community practicums. Work on department, college and/or university committees as appropriate. Engage in community service activities as appropriate. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Education

An earned doctorate (PhD, DCN ) in nutrition or related field with expertise in Community Nutrition, Nutrition Epidemiology or Public Health Nutrition preferred; and reasonably expect to have a doctorate degree prior to assuming the position.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of professional development related to areas of expertise.

Work Experience

Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience, at least three of which must have been at the college or university level, or the equivalent in terms of specialized experience post RD credentialing.

Leadership/Supervisory Responsibilities

This position reports to the department chair.

Work Complexity/Budget Authority

Tasks are often complex and may require innovation.

Independent Judgment/Decision Making/Problem Solving Skills

Follows faculty manual, college and departmental Bylaws, and other policies set forward by the university.

Personal/Organizational Contacts

Regular contact with others, including students, general public, visitors, and University personnel. The purpose of contacts is to explain, clarify, or interpret information and problem solving. May handle confidential information and some complex matters.

Customer Service Relationships

Anticipates students' needs and regularly motivates or influences others to be responsive to students.
