Overview of the Events and Communication Coordinator

The communications project manager is responsible for developing and executing detailed communication project plans based on strategic initiatives and incoming demand. This involves day-to-day management of communications projects including announcements, internal projects, press releases, events. Has responsibility for project execution and works directly with cross-functional corporate teams.


Project Execution/Implementation

  • Develop sustained metrics to assess ongoing effectiveness of communications vehicles and provide reporting on a regular cadence.
  • Partner with communications team to develop toolkits, templates and effective processes to streamline workflow.
  • Create long- and short-term project plans (based on projects), including setting targets for milestones, adhering to deadlines and allocating resources
  • Coordinate budgets, invoicing, and maintain calendars for corporate projects
  • Collaborate with corporate stakeholders to understand the goals and objectives of requests
  • If applicable, drive change management, including but not limited to communication planning, surveys, testing, and training on new processes to support the project or event
  • Articulate tasks to be completed by others, and work with those individuals (internal or external) to complete the tasks on time and budget
  • Prioritize multiple projects and timelines
  • Adjust schedules and targets on the project as needed; communicate changes with team
  • Regularly assess software and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the communications function within the business

Profile job holder

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in communications, business, marketing, design, graphic arts, PR, and/or Commercial studies with a sound understanding of business processes
  • Experience in similar project management, communications and/or marketing roles with proven ability to manage multi-department projects.
  • Proficient in PC platforms, PDF technology, Excel spreadsheet, standard design software program experience (like Acrobat and Illustrator) are preferred but not required
  • Excellent time management skills and verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working with constantly changing project priorities and working independently
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from senior management
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage a fast paced schedule
  • Experience working independently and/or partnering with teams to implement large-scale communications projects and initiatives.
