Position Summary: Candidates will have the talent and creativity to plan and implement activities that enrich the resident’s lifestyle by addressing their physical, intellectual, spiritual, emotional and social well-being. This role is vital to resident and staff satisfaction through promoting the highest principles and standards a senior living community has to offer. The lifestyle director will plan daily activities as well as events that enrich the residents and community. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement activities in the following categories: physical (exercise), social, recreational, intellectual/educational, creative, entertainment, religious, service, and special requests of the residents.
  • Conduct/lead activities as needed.
  • Develop a comprehensive activity plan each year.
  • Develop activities according to residents’ lifestyle choices.
  • Coordinate the lifestyle information into the individual resident activity calendar.
  • Invite and/or remind residents to participate in planned activities.
  • Chaperone activities outside the community.
  • Train, support and instruct other team members to conduct activities.
  • Develop a Monthly Activity Calendar that incorporates activities 7 days per week and includes evening and weekend activities.
  • Arrange transportation for activity outings and regularly scheduled group trips.
  • Drive the company vehicle for resident activities and appointments.
  • Complete the activity assessment for each resident within one week after move-in and update it annually.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement decoration of the community for special events, seasons and holidays.
  • Coordinate food needs for scheduled activities with the kitchen.
  • Assist with development of activity budget.
  • Operate activity program within community budget guidelines.
  • Assist in planning and implementing marketing events that promote the community to potential residents.
  • Market the community to the local area by developing professional contacts in the area and inviting area organizations into the community on a regular basis.
  • Develop and implement positive resident relations programs for the community.
  • Assist in the hiring and development of team members, including supervising and motivating the team to achieve operational goals of management and ownership.
  • Promote cooperative working relationships within and between departments and other service levels on campus.
  • Provide clearly defined orientation procedures for residents.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to ensure resident's lives are enriched through relationship development, engaging activities, and feeling a sense of belonging/community.
  • Create and publish a variety of written communications to educate and inform residents, families, and team members.
  • Ensure that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals' needs and rights.

Education, Experience, and Other Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Services, Gerontology, or equivalent is strongly preferred.
  • 2+ years progressive experience in a senior living setting or similar field
  • COVID-19 vaccine or willingness to obtain vaccine required, reasonable accommodations will be considered

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Promote teamwork in providing services to residents.
  • Must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have well-developed organizational skills.
  • Must possess the ability to positively interact with team members, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the public.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience to include team member development
  • Ability to travel occasionally for meetings

Preferred Qualifications

  • State and Federal regulations pertaining to Assisted Living
  • Intermediate or advanced knowledge of or willingness and ability to learn the computer programs used in this community
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including the Microsoft Office Suite, and a demonstrated ability to embrace and master new applications
