Performs under the supervision of the HIM Supervisor. To ensure that all discharged record types are collected the day after admission/encounter. All documents are prepared according to policy, reviewed for documents comingling before scanning into the Electronic Medical Record. To include any and all other duties assigned by the HIM Director and or Supervisor.
Essential Job Duties:
Retrieves all records of discharge patients from all units (including inpatient, outpatient surgery, prepares all documents by removing staples, paper clips, sticky notes and rubber bands
Checks daily discharge census to ensure all records were received from each area of the hospital
Checks each record for poor originals and stamps poor original on the document according to policy and procedure
Retrieves records from scanning shelf and performs scanning process according to procedure and within established time frame at least 98% of the tiem
Assigns a batch cover sheet 100% of the time for scanned documents
Identifies images in the electronic medical records that did not scan clearly and flags for scanning on the flatbed scanner
Writes batches to the correct work queue at least 100% of the time—maintains appropriate cleaning of the scanner on a weekly basis
Performs other duties assigned to me by my Director/Supervisor

High school graduate
Prefer at least 2 years of current experience in an acute care setting
