We have an immediate opening for an Accounting Assistant position in our Lewiston, ME office location. Our ideal candidate will be reliable, dependable and hard working with the ability to function in an ever-changing and fast paced environment.
The hourly requirement will be a full time position 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with an hour for lunch.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Produce daily billing
- Process credit card payments
- Confirming, printing and matching invoices
- Making collection calls and maintaining collection data in accounting system
- Validating customer orders
- Provide customer statements as requested
- New customer set-up/Sales tax paperwork
- Research short paid invoices
- Backup for creating deposits from posted payments
- Sort billing
- Enter billing
- Run payments by check or ACH
- Research late payments and discounts
- Sort Emails
- New vendor set-up
- Research and enter credits as needed
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associates degree in accounting, finance or business related field preferred
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or related field
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong understanding of financial systems, processes, and methodologies
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Advanced knowledge of accounting software and MS Office Programs
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Basic understanding of accounting concepts such as debits and credits
