News-Press & Gazette Company is looking for a motivated, team-oriented individual to join our Accounts Payable team as an Entry-Level Accounting Associate. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to start their career in accounting and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, supportive environment. You’ll work closely with various departments and vendors, learning key processes and building a strong foundation in accounts payable and general accounting.
What you will do....
- Accurately enter vendor invoices into the accounting system and route for approval
- Match invoices with purchase orders to ensure proper coding and resolve discrepancies
- Act as a point of contact for basic accounts payable questions, including late invoices, statement research, payment issues, and vendor account concerns
- Process vendor payments, monitor vendor payment status, and research issues.
- Maintain vendor records and documentation, including ACH/wire setup and W-9 management
- Prepare and organize documents for audits and internal reviews
- Assist with month-end tasks, such as account reconciliations and reporting
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures and tax regulations
- Provide support for additional accounting tasks and special projects as needed
What we are looking for.....
- High school diploma required, coursework or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred (an associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus)
- Basic understanding of accounting principles
- Firm foundation in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with accounting software is a plus
- Work effectively with colleagues and act with integrity, courtesy, and responsibility
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage time and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours as needed
- Positive attitude and commitment to professional growth
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
