DESCRIPTION:
The Accounting Services Supervisor is responsible for clerical and managerial work, participating in basic accounting functions such as initiating and approving payments, overseeing AP/AR entry, facilitating new client on-boarding and maintaining financial records for clients. Furthermore, this position is responsible for the execution of monthly closing procedures for clients. The Accounting Services Supervisor must be able to effectively communicate with clients, peers within the department as well as across departments, and maintain a positive working relationship when addressing problems and coming up with solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required
- 6-8 years of experience with general bookkeeping, AR/AP, month end closings, and/or audit is required
- Supervisory or team lead experience preferred
- Preference for experience in Accounting or Bookkeeping in an Industrial, Manufacturing, Logistics, or large Retail setting
- Proficient with Microsoft Dynamics GP preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, is required
- Familiarity with other accounting software is important
- Proven experience delivering client-focused solutions
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while maintaining strict attention to detail
- Ability to think critically and make clear, reasoned judgments
- Demonstrates patience, empathy, and a positive attitude
- Can remain calm and composed under pressure
- Proven ability to work cooperatively among a team
- Exhibits initiative and the ability to follow through to completion for assigned projects
- Must pass a criminal and credit background check and comply with all Opal policies
- Must sign a confidentiality agreement and enforce compliance within the accounting department
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Address and resolve client related issues
- Perform the accounting operations of client companies in accordance with Opal policies and procedures
- Handling distribution of work assignments to staff
- Enter and/or review AP and AR entries for accuracy
- Maintain internal financial statements as assigned
- Manage month end closing procedures for assigned clients
- Prepare financial reporting for assigned clients and submit to the Director of Accounting Services Operations within designated time frames
- New client on-boarding as assigned, which may include review of prior financials and back-entry of prior period transactions
- Assist in training new employees to use internal Opal systems, Dynamics, and other accounting processes and procedures
- Maintain internal accounting department/Opal documents as needed
- Keep open line of communication with team members, other departments, clients, customers, and other relevant contacts
- Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and work with third party for tax filings
- Contribute to regular accounting department meetings

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Accounting Support Staff may report to this role.

POSITION TYPE AND HOURS OF WORK:
- Full time, exempt, salary
- 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday and must be available between the business hours of 9:00AM and 4:00PM Eastern Standard Time (EST)

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in a professional office environment with moderate noise level. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS ACCORDING TO ADA COMPLIANCE:
- This is largely a sedentary role; however some filing is required. This would require the ability to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, speak to coworkers, etc.
- Person will be required to bend or stand as necessary
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- The person in this position frequently talks to clients and customers. Must be able to communicate and effectively exchange accurate information in these situations.
