Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Technician to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This role is crucial in supporting the overall financial health of the organization and requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Responsibilities
- Perform balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice verification and payment processing.
- Assist with payroll management tasks, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing using systems such as Paychex or UltiPro.
- Maintain detailed records of debits and credits for various accounts to support financial accuracy.
- Utilize accounting software such as Xero or Ceridian for transaction processing and reporting.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with SOX regulations and internal controls.
- Prepare financial reports and assist in month-end closing activities.
- Respond to inquiries from internal departments regarding financial transactions and account statuses.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English (written and spoken) with excellent communication skills.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in bookkeeping, or accounting support. Experience in a construction or contracting company is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required. Hands-on experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software is strongly preferred.
- Education: An Associate’s degree or coursework in business, accounting, or a related field is a plus.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities. Attention to detail is critical, especially when handling financial data and documentation.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong customer service orientation with a friendly and professional demeanor. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive attitude.
- Trustworthiness: Must handle confidential information with discretion and integrity. A strong sense of responsibility and reliability (good attendance and punctuality) is expected.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Accounting Technician or similar role in a finance department.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including balance sheet reconciliation, debits, and credits.
- Familiarity with payroll management systems; experience with Paychex or UltiPro is preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero or Ceridian is advantageous.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact with various stakeholders regarding financial matters.
