Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporaries are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.
Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. OSHR supports the Governor's Job Ready initiative and seeks to expand a temporary's skill set to enhance their qualifications for State government and private sector jobs. Exposure to an agency's culture, process, procedures, and potential learning opportunities can provide valuable experience to those who may seek permanent employment with the state.
This temporary position is located in Raleigh - Wake County.
Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $23.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).
This temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Environmental Quality. This position is located at 217 W. Jones St, Raleigh, NC 27603.
- Daily Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and deposit activities.
- Field Deposits: Execute and verify daily field deposits and ensure timely submission.
- Core Banking Transfers: Process inter-account transfers using the organization’s core banking systems.
- NCFS Journal Entries: Enter and certify journal entries into the NCFS system on a daily basis.
- Excel Tracking: Maintain and update Excel spreadsheets to track journals, deposits, and other financial transactions.
- SharePoint Logging: Log all deposits and transfer activities in SharePoint for cross-departmental transparency.
- Deposit Certification: Ensure all deposits are certified in NCFS on a daily basis.
- Email Monitoring: Monitor and respond to inquiries or alerts via WF CEO email system to ensure seamless cash management operations
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

- Maintaining accurate financial records
- Performing field deposits
- Managing core banking transfers
- Property recording of transactions across multiple platforms, including NCFS, Core Banking, Microsoft 365 and SharePoint
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.” If that language appears below, then you may qualify through EITHER years of education OR years of directly related experience, OR a combination of both. Associate degree in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution; orHigh school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
