Agronomy Associate I

PAY RANGE: $56,000 TO $61,000 / year

Compensation is determined based on your experience and qualifications.

In addition to base pay, you may be eligible for overtime, commission, performance-based increases, and bonuses.

REPORTS TO: Area Agronomy Marketing Manager STATUS: Exempt

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Trains and works to generate profitable sales in the assigned territory by providing sales support, customer service, accurate record keeping, and value-added agronomic products, services, and recommendations while ensuring an excellent customer experience and promoting sales growth through company marketing programs.

The Agronomy Associate I also supports the agronomy team by conducting advanced field scouting, soil sampling, data analysis, and offering expert agronomic advice to customers, leveraging extensive field experience to deliver high-quality services that optimize crop yields and promote sustainable agricultural practices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide customer service by scheduling product deliveries, applications, soil testing, crop scouting, and other programs. Follows up on all customer complaints and seeks a reasonable “win/win” resolution.
  • Works to meet customer service expectations under the guidance of a Crop Specialist and Location Manager by developing crop programs that focus on accurate record-keeping, tracking customer plans, and utilizing digital systems to improve the customer experience.
  • Provide customer service by scheduling product deliveries, applications, soil testing, crop scouting, and other programs while conducting detailed field visits to monitor crop health, identify pest and disease issues, and assess nutrient levels.
  • Collaborate with customers to implement best practices and ensure optimal crop performance.
  • Collect and analyze soil, plant, and water samples using advanced techniques.
  • Utilize precision agriculture tools to gather and interpret field data.
  • Assists the Crop Specialist in developing and implementing comprehensive crop management plans based on field observations and data analysis.
  • Participate in and lead research projects to evaluate new agronomic products, technologies, and practices.
  • Maintain detailed records of field activities, sample analyses, and agronomic recommendations.
  • Document and share insights and best practices with the agronomy team.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture, Crop Science, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years or more of business-related work experience or training, or equivalent, demonstrating the ability to generate sales in an assigned territory and experience in agronomy or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in precision agriculture tools, techniques, and agricultural management software.
  • Advanced knowledge of agronomic principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable recommendations.

  • Follow safety and compliance standards to help ensure their well-being and the safety of others.
  • Ability to work hours other than those considered normal at various times throughout the year to meet deadlines and demands.
  • The role may require occasional travel to other company locations or industry events, with the ability to travel independently and stay overnight as needed.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in required training, including education on GROWMARK’s policies and procedures and additional training related to the position’s requirements.
