Job Summary:
The Shelter Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the shelter facility, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for all visitors/animals. This role oversees staff, ensures compliance with policies, and manages resources efficiently. This position reports directly to the board of directors and it is expected that the board is updated on a cadence that all parties agree to.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Shelter Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations of the shelter, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and security.
- Develop, implement, and maintain shelter policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, health regulations, and licensing requirements.
- Monitor occupancy and maintain accurate records.
- Grow foster/volunteer programs
2. Staff Supervision and Development
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate shelter staff and volunteers.
- Develop staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Provide regular training on safety, trauma-informed care, and shelter policies.
- Foster a team-oriented, supportive working environment.
3. Animal Care & Services
- Ensure animals receive appropriate care and support.
- Coordinate intake, assessments, and service planning.
- Manage conflict resolution and crisis intervention as needed.
- Liaise with the medical facilities that we use to ensure service continuity.
4. Resource and Facilities Management
- Maintain inventory of supplies and order as needed.
- Coordinate facility maintenance and repairs.
- Ensure proper storage and distribution of donations and goods.Maintain budget records and assist in financial planning.
5. Community & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, service providers, and donors.
- Represent the shelter at community meetings and events.Assist in public education, fundraising, and outreach efforts.
- Oversee all social media platforms.
- Resolve all client/visitors conflict.
6. Financials, Documentation, and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Prepare regular reports on shelter metrics, outcomes, and incidents.
- Track performance indicators and make recommendations for improvement.
- Ensure all utility bills are paid.

*All roles at the shelter are cross functional. Team members are expected to step in and support each other. This includes all leadership positions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
