Job Title: Shelter Support Staff – Women & Children's Shelter
Location: Dover, DE
Position Type: Part-Time, Evenings, Weekends, & On-Call
Compensation: $15 an hour

Shift:
4pm-8pm Saturdays and Sundays (every other weekend) & 12am-8pm Wednesdays

Job Summary:
We are seeking reliable, dedicated individuals to join our team as Shelter Support Staff for our women's shelter. In this role, you will provide essential support to our residents, ensuring a safe and clean environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure the safety and security of shelter residents
- Assist with intake and assessment of new residents, ensuring all paperwork and protocols are followed
- Respond to crises and emergencies in a calm and professional manner
- Collaborate with case managers and other staff to ensure holistic care for residents
- Assist with daily operations such as distributing meals, overseeing chores, and maintaining a clean and welcoming shelter environment
- Ensure adherence to shelter rules and protocols, including maintaining privacy and confidentiality
- Participate in ongoing training and staff development, including mandatory paid training
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required. Relevant coursework or certifications in social work, human services, or related fields preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Experience in social services, particularly in a men's shelter or transitional housing setting is a plus
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those who have experienced trauma
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle emergencies
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Flexibility to work assigned shifts, including evenings, overnights, and weekends

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and communication.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical ability to perform building checks and respond to emergencies.
- A valid driver’s license may be required depending on shelter needs.
- Successful completion of a background check.
