APPLICATION ANALYST II – Laboratory
The Application Analyst supporting Laboratory works closely with IT, Clinical and Revenue Cycle Management, other application analysts and departmental staff in building stable and secure integrated system solutions, providing ongoing maintenance and support of these systems, and evaluating and deploying emergent and new technologies. The Analyst also engages with front end users (primarily Lab) and analysts to build and optimize Cerner's PathNet and MDI solutions. This position may also support other Information Technology applications and work initiatives.
The Application Analyst acts as a liaison between technical staff, Lab Technologists and key hospital departments. Responsibilities include providing support for all Cerner PathNet modules (Gen Lab, Blood Bank, AP, Micro and Chemistry), various middleware (GEM, RALS/Abbott, Data Innovations), building and testing Labcorp send out orders, supporting point-of-care applications (Clinitek, Nova, iStat) as well as Lattice/Medicopia specimen collection system. Additional responsibilities include building Cerner laboratory orders, IBUS and MDI interface/maintenance to Oracle: Cerner Millennium, Remote Report Distribution (RRD) and Event Set Hierarchy (ESH) maintenance. Responsibilities also include identifying and resolving errors, implementing software upgrades, ensuring daily and periodic applications maintenance tasks are performed and participating or leading in projects. The Application Analyst will coordinate necessary resources or personnel (user departments, vendor personnel, IT programming or technical staff, consultants, physicians and other affiliated personnel) to ensure that supported systems operate smoothly and effectively. This position prioritizes work and is accountable for reporting on work status. The Application Analyst also provides input into strategic planning for his/her areas of responsibility.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience in Oracle: Cerner Millennium and working knowledge of all Cerner Millennium solutions, especially PathNet; BMDI or Blood Bank module a plus.
- Certifications in Cerner Millennium are a plus.
- Knowledge of Labcorp test set up and integration with Cerner.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Information Systems supporting Lab applications in a health care setting.
- Significant experience implementing, integrating and supporting in-house and ancillary applications.
- Experience with system upgrades, project management and vendor management; project leadership a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and support tasks simultaneously.
- Analyst is responsible to document, test, communicate and resolve identified problems.
- Knowledgeable of current application information technologies and trends in health care.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
