Application Developer, Core Applications
Job description
Position Overview
Holley is building a modern, high-impact internal IT function—and we’re looking for an experienced Application Developer, Core Applications (Infor) who thrives on solving problems, improving user experience, and supporting the ERP (Syteline) that keeps the business running.
The Application Developer, Core Applications develops and supports business applications used across Holley, with a primary focus on the on-premises Infor SyteLine 9 ERP platform and its Microsoft SQL Server database. The role combines application support, technical analysis, and hands-on SQL development to deliver reliable solutions for manufacturing, distribution, finance, customer service, and other business functions.
This developer works directly with business stakeholders and the Core Applications team to translate requirements into maintainable technical solutions. The position also works closely with Data Engineering and the Database Administrator to support data integration, data quality, query performance, database standards, and controlled production deployments.
As Holley transitions from SyteLine to Infor LN, this role will help maintain the stability of the current ERP environment, preserve critical business logic, and support data analysis, conversion, validation, and migration activities.
Role Purpose
The Application Developer, Core Applications (Infor) translates approved business and functional requirements into reliable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions. The role designs, develops, tests, documents, and supports SQL code, SyteLine 9 customizations, reports, interfaces, background processes, and related application components. The developer maintains traceability from the original business requirement through solution design, development, testing, deployment, validation, and ongoing support.
The role also improves the stability, performance, and supportability of Holley’s core applications by applying development standards, participating in peer reviews, identifying technical and data-related risks early, and ensuring that delivered solutions remain aligned with business requirements. The developer works closely with Core Applications, Data Engineering, and the Database Administrator to support data integrity, query performance, integrations, controlled production deployments, and Holley’s transition from SyteLine to Infor LN.
Key Responsibilities
SQL Development and Data Solutions
• Design, develop, test, document, and maintain SQL queries, views, stored procedures, functions, and controlled data scripts that support SyteLine and related business applications.
• Analyze business requirements and convert them into secure, maintainable database and application solutions.
• Troubleshoot SQL errors, data inconsistencies, blocking, deadlocks, long-running processes, and performance issues in partnership with the database administrator.
• Review execution plans and query behavior, then recommend or implement appropriate code changes in coordination with the database administrator.
• Develop validation queries, transaction controls, error handling, logging, and rollback procedures for data changes.
• Perform peer reviews and maintain source-controlled technical documentation for SQL code and related application changes.
SyteLine Application Development and Support
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot SyteLine 9 customizations, reports, interfaces, background tasks, and supporting database objects.
• Support SyteLine forms, IDOs, application events, stored procedures, and other extension points while avoiding unsupported changes to base application objects.
• Investigate application incidents across the user interface, business logic, integrations, TaskMan processing, and SQL Server layers to identify root cause and restore service.
• Support ERP modules and processes used by manufacturing, planning, inventory, order management, shipping, purchasing, finance, and customer service.
• Work with internal teams and external implementation partners on enhancements, defect resolution, upgrades, and new capabilities.
• Monitor application health and recurring incidents, and recommend changes that improve stability, performance, and supportability.
Data Engineering and Database Collaboration
• Assist Data Engineering with source-system analysis, field mapping, extracts, transformations, reconciliation, and data-quality investigation involving SyteLine and related applications.
• Provide SyteLine data-model knowledge and business context for integrations, reporting, analytics, and migration work.
• Partner with the database administrator on database design, indexing, security, performance tuning, deployment planning, maintenance considerations, and recovery requirements.
• Help diagnose issues that cross application, integration, and database boundaries, and coordinate ownership through resolution.
• Support data conversion and validation activities associated with the transition from SyteLine to Infor LN.
Business Partnership and Application Support
• Partner with business users to understand workflows, operational pain points, priorities, and expected outcomes.
• Provide timely application support, communicate clearly during incidents, and meet established service-level expectations.
• Translate technical findings into practical explanations for users, support teams, and leadership.
• Create and maintain solution designs, support procedures, runbooks, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge articles.
• Train users and support personnel on new features, process changes, and appropriate system use.
Development Lifecycle and Change Management
• Follow Holley standards for requirements, solution design, development, peer review, testing, user acceptance, deployment, validation, and rollback.
• Develop and test changes in the appropriate non-production environment before requesting production implementation.
• Prepare complete change records with business justification, testing evidence, implementation steps, validation criteria, risk assessment, and rollback instructions.
• Support technical reviews with Core Applications, Data Engineering, the database administrator, Infrastructure, Security, and other teams as appropriate.
• Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management practices and perform root-cause analysis for recurring or high-impact issues.
Required Qualifications
• Seven or more years of experience in application development, ERP support, database development, systems analysis, or a related technical role.
• Hands-on experience supporting and developing solutions for Infor SyteLine 9 or SyteLine 10 in a production environment.
• Advanced Microsoft SQL Server and SQL skills, including complex queries, joins, views, stored procedures, functions, transactions, and error handling.
• Experience troubleshooting query performance, execution plans, blocking, deadlocks, and data-integrity issues.
• Experience with ERP integrations, customizations, reporting, background processing, and production support.
• Working knowledge of manufacturing and distribution processes and their supporting ERP data.
• Experience applying software development lifecycle, source control, testing, documentation, and change-management practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively with technical and business teams.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with SyteLine IDOs, Mongoose forms, Application Event System, TaskMan, and SSRS.
• Experience with EDI, APIs, middleware, ETL or ELT processes, and enterprise data integrations.
• Experience using SQL monitoring and development tools such as Redgate SQL Monitor or SQL Toolbelt.
• Familiarity with SQL Server administration concepts, including indexing, security, backup and recovery, and database maintenance.
• Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing environments and working with SyteLine implementation partners.
• Experience with Infor LN, ERP data migration, or hybrid cloud and on-premises application environments.
• Experience with ITIL service-management practices and ticketing platforms such as Halo, ServiceNow, or Jira.
