JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:

The Aquatic Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and implementing aquatic programs and maintaining aquatic facilities for the City of Tucker. This role ensures that aquatic services aligning with department goals are inclusive and engaging for the community and are executed efficiently and safely. The Aquatic Coordinator supports the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department by promoting healthy lifestyles, skill development, and inclusive participation.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in hiring and training part-time and seasonal employees, and contracted instructors.

Organizes and oversee the schedules and workflow of the aquatic program staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to direct, support, and evaluate staff effectively.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to engage diverse audiences, resolve concerns, and represent the department professionally.

Proven interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships with coworkers, the public, community stakeholders, and elected officials.

Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, recreation management software, and other technology platforms used for program registration, scheduling, and reporting.

Ability to plan, organize, and implement a wide range of out-of-school time programs.

Capacity to build and maintain effective working relationships across departments, with contractors, volunteers, the media, and local organizations.

Ability to maintain composure and perform effectively in high-visibility roles involving frequent public interaction and scrutiny.

Familiarity with the City of Tucker and surrounding areas, including community needs and local resources.

Considerable knowledge of recreation program development and administration for youth, teens, seniors, special populations, and outdoor activities.

Knowledge of local and state regulations related to aquatic operations, including safety standards, staffing requirements, water quality compliance, and permitting.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be available to work hours as needed or necessary for, but not limited to, attending meetings, events, athletics, or programs outside of normal business hours.

Must be available to work weekdays, weeknights, weekends, and operating holidays.

Must be able to manage multiple items at the same time; prioritize tasks; and meet recurring and periodic time constraints.

Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License (Class C)- Required, along with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)

EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Parks & Recreation, Leisure Services, Sports Management, Education, or related field -- Desired.

At least two years of related experience with at least one year of supervisory experience -- Required.

Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) and/or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) within three (3) months -- Required.

Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) – Desired

Required to obtain within 90 days of employment and maintain certification throughout the employment period

American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification

o

CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification

PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit, talk and hear; use hands, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, climb, crawl, crouch, kneel, or balance.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee’s time is split between an office setting and field work. Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. The employee works in outdoor environments and is subject to inclement weather conditions. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, and airborne particles. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, and irritating chemicals.

Pay: From $20.35 per hour
