Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead Area Market Sector (MS) communications within NorCal and with other HDR Areas.
  • Drive MS growth in the Area. Develop and implement the Water Resource Management (WRM) growth and strategy in Northern California - develop and drive a long-range WRM mission, vision and strategy for HDR’s NorCal area
  • Lead implementation of MS strategic plan initiatives in the NorCal Area. Identify, develop and implement WRM initiatives to NorCal Area marketplace.
  • Coordinate staffing and identify key investments with Area BC Leaders/Project Delivery/Professional Services Leaders to drive WRM recruiting and hiring. Assist with workshare management
  • Collaborate with other technical and marketing staff in the pursuit of new projects, taking a leadership role in selected key pursuits, partner with the Business Development Leadership team
  • Support the development of and provide reviews of scopes of work, fee estimate, project risk identification and project schedules.
  • Manage Water Resources Management MS project staffing/resourcing, workload.
  • Work as part of the NorCal leadership team to coordinate staffing/recruiting plans for key hires and assist leadership as necessary with technical or project management hires.
  • Work as part of the NorCal leadership team to develop and implement WBG wide initiatives
  • Identify technical gaps and support talent management and recruiting.
  • Develop relationships with industry counterparts in other consulting organizations
  • Develop relationships with senior leadership in key client organizations.
  • Monitor market sector performance indicators, including NFE, NFB, profits, positive equity, AR, losses and investments.
  • Achieve Area Market Sector NFB Goals.

Client Management Activities

  • Serve as the Client Manager for selected key clients.
  • Promote the WRM market in Northern California.
  • Coordinate participation and engagement with Professional organizations. Lead WRM branding in NorCal by engaging in professional organizations aligned to the WRM market. Participate in industry associations and serve as a company role-model in business and community organizations.
  • Lead and engage in marketing planning, proposals and interviews for Water and Wastewater projects
  • Engage the appropriate project management and technical talent in pursuit teams.
  • Support pursuit teams in developing persuasive proposal and interview materials.
  • Participate in industry associations and community organizations to elevate HDR's brand in target markets.

Project Delivery

  • Participate in Quality reviews for MS clients.
  • Function as a project or contract manager on large or key projects.
  • Conduct or attend key WRM Project Reviews.
  • Assist with contract review on key projects to help ensure risk management, proper staffing, quality reviews and resolution of claims.
  • Support & Perform quality reviews of proposal and interview materials.
  • Facilitate debriefs to identify improvement opportunities and to measure overall competitiveness.
  • Recognize and celebrate pursuit successes and milestones.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, planning or a related field
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry experience
  • Experienced in development and management of strategic marketing programs for planning and/or engineering services
  • Experienced in development and management of a wide range of client relationships and specific program and/or project pursuits
  • Experienced in overall staff development to include recruiting, career path and professional growth
  • Experienced with industry associations and maintains a visible profile in the market sector
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Regional Market Sector Directors, Market Sector Directors, Business Class Directors, Regional Business Group Directors, Area Business Group Managers, Area Marketing Managers and Area Managers
  • Demonstrated commitment to HDR values. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
