Job Description

Are you passionate about data analysis and helping organizations make smarter infrastructure decisions? The City of Raleigh is seeking an innovative and results-driven Asset Data Manager to lead strategies that support the long-term performance and value of City-owned facilities managed within the Engineering Services Department’s Integrated Facility Services Division. In this impactful role, you will build and manage a centralized system for tracking facility assets, analyze life cycle and cost data to inform capital and maintenance planning, and identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency across our portfolio. Your work will directly support the City’s strategic goals and contribute to a more sustainable, efficient, and resilient Raleigh. If you are energized by the idea of turning complex data into action and want your work to shape the future of the return on investments for city infrastructure, this is the opportunity for you.

About You:

You are analytical, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused. You enjoy transforming complex data into meaningful insights that improve decision-making. You work well in collaborative environments, communicate technical concepts clearly, and seek continuous improvement. You bring experience in environmental sustainability, asset data management, or facility operations, and you have a strong interest in public service and civic impact.

About Us:

The Engineering Services Department at the City of Raleigh plays a vital role in designing, managing, and sustaining the City’s infrastructure and facilities. Within the department, the Integrated Facility Services Division team is responsible for facility operations, capital asset management, contract oversight, and strategic systems integration. We are dedicated to creating a sustainable, resilient, and efficient built environment through innovation, continuous improvement, and collaboration. The City of Raleigh offers competitive benefits, a supportive work culture, and the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the community. This is an exciting time to join a mission-driven organization that values teamwork and integrity during a period of growth and transformation.
While this is a hybrid position, certain duties cannot be performed remotely. Therefore, staff will sometimes be required to report on a scheduled remote day.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a centralized database for City-owned facility assets, including equipment inventories, condition data, and maintenance records
  • Analyze asset life cycle data to support capital planning, equipment replacement schedules, and maintenance strategies
  • Conduct total cost of ownership and life cycle cost analyses to help prioritize projects and optimize budget decisions
  • Evaluate opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and make data-based recommendations that align with the City’s sustainability goals
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to improve asset data collection, reporting standards, and systems integration
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on data entry, asset tracking tools, and reporting practices to ensure consistency and quality
  • This role will require the use of a City-owned vehicle to travel between multiple facilities, job sites, and meetings efficiently. This ensures timely response to operational needs, inspections, and service coordination that cannot be met through remote or fixed-location work

Typical Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering or directly related field and five years of professional experience in environmental analysis, asset management, sustainability, or a related field

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
