Position is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing and managing in all aspects of the Three Rivers Baseball program. Position will assist with conducting practices, conducting strength & condition work outs, motivating and overseeing the student athletes both academically and athletically, assisting with organizing camps and fund raisers, recruitment of potential student athletes, scouting and keeping assigned team statistics, field/park maintenance, instructing student athletes in game strategies and techniques, and other tasks associated with the baseball program as assigned by the head baseball and/or athletic director.
Salary for this role is $20,000 per year.
Essential Duties
- Assists the head baseball coach with instructing student athletes in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
- Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head baseball coach.
- Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head baseball coach informed of the athletic performance of student athletes.
- Assists with determining game strategy in conjunction with the head baseball coach.
- Assists the head baseball coach with supervising student athletes during practices, competition, overnight stays, other institutional events, and with academic progress.
- Models appropriate ethical/professional behavior and conduct towards players, officials, spectators, parents, and college staff. Maintains confidentiality when dealing with information exposed in the course of his duties regarding students, staff, supervisors, etc.
- Maintains the equipment, uniforms, work out gear, and storage room in a clean and orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
- Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to student athletes as directed by the head coach.
- Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, fund raisers, civic organizations, and other events related to the baseball team or the college. These events could include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data information, and other related records as assigned by the head coach.
- Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities. Knowledge of the mental and physical health of the student athletes. Reports any issues to the head baseball coach. Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
- Acclimates himself to the NJCAA recruiting rules and regulations through the head baseball coach and/or the athletic director. Be willing to work with high school coaches, parents, potential players, etc. in the recruiting process.
- Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance as assigned by the head baseball coach and/or athletic director.
- Work well with the admissions, financial aid office, and support staff during the administrative process of the enrollment of a student athlete.
- Assist with pre-game duties as assigned by the head baseball coach and/or the athletic director. Items to include but are not limited to securing game support staff, officials, concession workers, lodging, meals, transportation, and proper field maintenance.
- Assist head coach in budget preparation by providing inventory and/or list of supplies needed with the baseball program.
- Contributes to a safe educational and working environment by participating in all required drills and training and being prepared to act should a health or safety issue/emergency occur. Candidates may be required to become CPR certified or obtain first aid training.
- Position requires a display of teamwork, dedication, proper supervision, and personal interaction with all parties involved in the baseball program. With that understanding, regular and predictable on-job attendance/punctuality is expected and required.
- Candidates may be required on occasion to instruct or oversee a class as deemed necessary to be assigned by the administration.
- Have knowledge of social media outlets for posting of team or individual information and/or accomplishments and have other satisfactory computer skills.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the head baseball coach, athletic director, or other appropriate administrator.
