Job Summary
The Activity Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents in senior care facilities, including assisted living and memory care settings. This position involves planning, organizing, and facilitating engaging activities that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and overall well-being among residents. Duties
- Develop and implement a variety of recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Assist in memory care programs that support cognitive function and emotional well-being.
- Provide companionship and engage with residents during activities to foster a sense of community.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to ensure activities align with individual care plans.
- Organize events such as games, arts and crafts, music sessions, and outings to enhance social interaction.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment during all activities.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to promote participation and gather feedback on activities.
Skills
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with seniors and their families.
- Experience or knowledge in aging issues counseling to better understand resident needs.
- Familiarity with caregiving practices within assisted living or nursing home settings.
- Ability to plan and execute engaging events that cater to diverse resident interests.
- Compassionate approach towards senior care, demonstrating patience and empathy.
- Experience in memory care techniques is highly desirable.
- Ability to assist residents physically as needed while maintaining their dignity.
