JOB SUMMARY
The associate is responsible for providing friendly and courteous service, assisting customers, making recommendations when necessary, and maintaining a friendly and clean work environment. This individual also adheres to Ben’s Barketplace, Inc.’s precise specifications in all aspects of work, and assists the owner/operator in other duties as necessary.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Arrives to work on time
- Arrives to work neat and clean and dressed in appropriate attire
- Greets all customers in a friendly, sincere manner, acknowledging the return of regular customers
- Promotes customer service by being polite and responsive to all customers
- Demonstrates a complete understanding of pet food offerings and accurately explains them to customers.
- Answers the phone
- Handles customer complaints courteously and professionally
- Accepts deliveries and stocks store
- Ensures proper rotation of all inventory items
- Performs inventory counts as necessary
- Performs opening and closing duties as listed in Section D of this manual
- Periodically straightens up retail area, cleaning and arranging shelved items as needed
- Uses proper POS system procedures, enters the customer’s purchases, calculates the total amount, processes payment, and provides a receipt for every purchase.
- Creates and maintains customer records in computer database
- Thanks customers for their patronage and invites them to return
- Performs daily cleaning and maintenance duties as requested by owner/operator
- Ensures safe and proper use of all equipment and supplies
- Familiarizes himself with the latest promotions
- Works a flexible schedule based on the needs of the store, including nights and weekends as required
- Attends community fairs, special events, open houses, and trade shows as necessary
- Works as part of a team
- Participates in any additional training to improve skills and professional competencies and attends all staff meetings
- Communicates to owner/operator any relevant information pertaining to customer transactions or inquiries, product information, or store operations
- Any other job duties assigned
- Previous pet ownership or retail or customer service experience is a plus!
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:
The associate reports directly to the owner/operator or his designee.
