SUMMARY
The Associate Designer position works on our Ready-to-wear (RTW) Special Collections, Eventwear and Bridesmaids categories. This position focuses on both import & domestic styles. This individual is responsible for supporting in all aspects of the design process from concept through production alongside the Senior Designer. Must be within reasonable commuting distance of the Mumu HQ in Downtown LA. This role’s schedule is hybrid and works in an open office a minimum of 3 days per week.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
- Supports the special collections Senior Designer and PD on all sourcing developmental fronts
- Highly proficient in sketching/ CAD creation using Adobe Illustrator
- Must have a great eye for Trend and Color
- Must be able to learn the brand DNA and support in the design process
- Create CADs/Tech Packs/Construction Detail Pages/maintains BOMs
- Knowledge and experience in communicating with factories overseas
- Work with the RM team to Research fabrics and trims
- Experienced in collaborating cross-functionally with teams such as Patternmakers, Product Development, and Raw Materials throughout the design process
- Reports to meetings with necessary information, lab dips, linesheets and accurately take notes for designer in meetings
- Assign Style numbers to new developments
- Maintain and update the working line sheet with name and style number changes adding all necessary information and codes
- Build and organize fabric boards by season
- Create and maintain seasonal inspiration decks for review with the Senior Designer. Incorporate relevant trend reports into the trend document for special and seasonal collections
- Supports product development in tracking all fabric, trim and finishing developments
- Tracks print and body development and to ensure the timely manner of finished salesman samples
- Support in designing silhouettes each season under the supervision of the designer and creative directors.
- Aids in the Fast Track Development meetings with the production and design teams a
- Responsible for creating, maintaining and sending all BOM’s for fast-track styles
- Collaborates with Product Development to track styles and ensure on-time delivery

- Assists in setting up swatch and print packages for send out as needed for domestic and import developments
- Maintain and organize all sample racks, lab dip swatches, and strike offs
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Comfortable in working in a fast-paced environment, flexible in changing direction as needed
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of how to maneuver through adobe and office software programs
- PC/Mac literate with proficient understanding and skills in using keyboard and Microsoft office products.
- Ability to effectively multitask and change direction as needed.
- Candidates must be highly organized with ability to prioritize + a sense of urgency.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- 3-4 years’ design experience in the young contemporary/ contemporary world or related field
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Fashion design preferred or related fields
- Dynamic analytical, problem solving and project management abilities- must be a self-starter
- Flexibility with regards to job responsibilities
- Knowledge with MS Office applications including Word, and Excel
- Knowledge with Adobe applications- Photoshop & Illustrator
- Able to work and think independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain composure in difficult situations.
- Excellent follow-through and attention to detail
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $28.84 - $34.60 per hour
