Alcohol and opioid dependence are serious life-threatening conditions that affect patients, impact families and devastate communities. Millions of people suffer from opioid dependence and from alcohol dependence, yet many health care professionals are not aware of the benefits of medication assisted treatment for this underserved patient population. Over the past several years the use of medication assisted treatment has become mainstream in opioid dependence and has grown in popularity for patients with alcohol dependence. Despite these trends, many with alcohol dependence and opioid dependence are still not aware there are medication assisted treatment options available to assist in their recovery journey.
Alkermes is looking for an Associate Director of Digital Marketing to join the VIVITROL® brand team, reporting to the Director of Digital Marketing within the Addiction Franchise. This person will be responsible for leading the development, management, and execution of VIVITROL consumer marketing activities supporting the brand’s alcohol and opioid dependence indications. This person will analyze patient data, research to best understand patient/consumer preferences and attitudes. More broadly, this role will focus on driving non-personal promotion (NPP) initiatives including the execution of VIVITROL marketing programs for both healthcare professionals (HCPs) and consumers. This position also involves tracking and optimizing performance for return on investment (ROI) through measuring digital analytics, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) and gathering strategic insights to make data-driven business decisions. This role will also other HCP efforts, local initiatives, and ad hoc projects as needed. The candidate must be a highly motivated, experienced individual who can work cross-functionally to align marketing activities to core brand objectives and corporate strategies. The role requires someone who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of people with complicated, difficult-to-treat diseases, such as addiction.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and deployment of digital marketing campaigns
- Ensure consistent messaging, brand voice and content across channels and tactics
- Manage multimedia content delivery across multiple websites and other digital channels
- Manage approval process for digital marketing tactics with Medical Affairs, Legal and Regulatory, including the development of branded and unbranded promotional material
- Manage and collaborate with agency partners through on-time, on-budget, and on-strategy development of online and offline material development which can range from digital and print advertising, collateral, and media planning
- Brainstorm new and innovative creative strategies to reach and engage key stakeholder audiences
- Work with internal partners, including commercial operations and IT, to continually refine operating procedures
- Work cross-functionally across the organization to ensure alignment and awareness of digital marketing efforts
- Interact with Field Sales and Sales management to understand current market conditions and needs of the sales force
- Train and educate Field Sales on digital marketing resources and best practices around resource utilization
- Ensure monthly measurement of KPI’s for websites and media advertising and interpret analytics to derive insights for continuous optimization
- Provide input and direction on market research while guiding application of insights from customer research studies
- Update and maintain budget responsibility for key marketing activities
- Keep current with emerging technologies including social media and omnichannel capabilities
- Manage other marketing initiatives as needed
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, science, or related field
- 10+ years of professional marketing or related experience
Preferred Skills and Knowledge Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ recent experience in pharmaceutical/healthcare product marketing or digital marketing to HCPs and/or Consumers
- Detailed understanding of digital marketing practices and customer experience (e.g., content management, campaign management, website management, personas, customer journeys, marketing automation, customer relationship management and digital asset management)
- Experience evolving digital marketing tactics, including websites, SEO, SEM, CRM Email, and social media
- Experience managing digital media spend to effectively reach and engage with customers
- Understanding of the FDA promotional guidelines and approval process
- Creative, with experience in devising campaigns targeted and personalized to specific audiences
- Knowledgeable of digital marketing tools (i.e., Marketo, Google Analytics)
- Experience with Veeva Vault and Veeva CRM systems
- Proven track record for successfully implementing and managing digital marketing activities that outperform defined goals
- Ability to clearly interpret and distill scientific, clinical, and commercial information
- Ability to effectively plan, prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to effectively influence and gain consensus from peers / cross-functional partners and management
- Experience working with Medical, Legal, and Regulatory review committees
- Experience managing agency partners and the creative process
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to simplify the complex and effectively use communication to engage across all levels of the organization
- Advanced analytical skills with strong ability to interpret data and make informed data driven decisions and projections
- Team player with proven ability to work collaboratively with other internal functions (i.e., marketing, IT, commercial operations)
- Understanding of industry code of conduct and ethics
