The Opportunity:

The Associate Director of Compliance will develop and help incorporate district policies and procedures, oversee the overall process of state, federal and authorizer data reporting; act as a liaison to receive and direct compliance issues through the appropriate channels for investigation and resolution; provide guidance to school leadership, and senior leadership teams regarding compliance issues; develop and help implement action plans to ensure all state, federal and authorizer requirements are met; develop and present data reporting analysis as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and monitor the implementation of a compliance program;
  • Read, interpret, develop, communicate, and implement a variety of complex laws, guidelines, initiatives and policies;
  • Demonstrate and model ethical behavior;
  • Work under pressure on multiple projects simultaneously, with constantly changing priorities and/or deadlines;
  • Research, compile, and verify data and prepare reports;
  • Respond to state, federal, and/or authorizer investigations and queries;
  • Monitor and report on program plans and progress;
  • Communicate clear objectives for compliance programs and activities.
  • Develop effective lines of communication throughout the organization;
  • Conduct internal compliance audits, enforce standards, and develop response plans;
  • Deliver high-quality oral reports and public presentations;
  • Develop, coordinate, and participate in multifaceted educational campaigns and training programs that focus on the elements of the district compliance program;
  • Assure efficient and timely completion of state, federal, and authorizer annual requirements;
  • Lead and participate in department, school, district, and community meetings;
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate discretion, initiative, and good judgment;


Essential Job Tasks:

  • Develop, initiate, maintain, and revise policies and procedures, risk assessments, and response plans for the general operation of school compliance and its related activities that help prevent unethical, or improper data reporting;
  • Analyze, interpret, summarize, and deliver school data to produce state, federal, and authorizer reporting;
  • Collaborate with other departments to determine and ensure annual reporting requirements are met, while monitoring progress and effectiveness of compliance standards in assigned title programs and activities; gather information, communicate status, progress, and concerns; recommend and implement improvement strategies, as appropriate.
  • Direct compliance issues through the appropriate channels for further investigation and resolution; consult with legal counsel, as needed;
  • Respond and address the received communications of alleged data reporting issues, regulations, policies and procedures by evaluating or recommending action plans;
  • Develop and oversee a system for managing the resolution of non-compliance issues;
  • Act as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure that compliance issues and concerns within the organization are appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved.
  • Maintain clear communication amongst departments and schools to ensure that the staff is knowledgeable of all compliance activities status and current trends;
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge base of organizational policy changes; provide general recommendations regarding state/federal required staff training modules, including special population services.
  • Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop and implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues; provide guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
  • Provide reports to help keep school leadership, senior management, BOD and district stakeholders informed;
  • Maintain a working knowledge of laws, rules, and guidelines related to compliance issues; attend conferences, workshops, and other trainings to ensure school compliance activities are legally appropriate;
  • Support Finance through annual auditing processes; develop action plans to address errors that cause the school to be out of compliance.
  • Conduct internal and external student data audits as needed.
  • Oversee the annual state, federal, and authorizer reporting process;
  • Oversee attendance and pupil accounting to ensure there are no findings.
  • Work with data analysts to ensure data reporting methodologies are properly followed and implemented

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Knowledgeable in the following areas:
    • Local, state, and federal laws and guidelines related to K-12 public education;
    • Administrative directives, data reporting regulations;
  • Strong oral and written communication techniques;
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and shift priorities effectively
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality as required and appropriate
  • Access to and ability to work from a home office
