The University of South Florida is seeking applicants for a Sports Nutrition Fellow to join our team. This position would actively participate as a member of the South Florida Sports Nutrition Staff assisting with football while also acting as the primary Sports Dietitian for Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, and Sailing. Additionally, they would assist in the oversight of the Lee Roy Selmon Athletics Center fueling station, assigned team nutrition education, in-season fueling plans, menu writing (as needed), cooking classes, etc.
- Management of the education, counseling, and fueling for Men’s & Women’s Soccer, Men’s and Women’s Tennis, and Sailing teams; including all initial nutrition assessment meetings, follow ups, team talks, food demos, locker room snack orders, etc.
- Assist the full-time Sports Dietitians with football including real-time meal education during assigned meal period, cooking demos, hydration management,
- Conduct and analyze DEXA scans and sweat tests for assigned sports teams as needed.
- Manage product inventory: including ordering, receiving, storing, and distribution to the fueling station, teams, and athletic facilities as needed.
- Assist with the oversight of the Lee Roy Selmon Athletics Center’s fueling station including fueling station student schedules, product needs, and maintenance.
- Assist in development and continuous improvement of nutrition education materials and resources and write monthly newsletter for staff, students, and coaches.
- Examine and translate scientific research related to nutrition, athletic performance and dietary supplements.
- Assist the sports dietitians in performing various administrative duties, including but not limited to budget and purchasing card management.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the sports nutrition staff
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma
Preferred Qualifications: B achelor’s degree in nutrition (or health related field), Registered Dietitian licensure (or RD eligible, must obtain RD licensure within first 3 months of employment) and commitment to working non-traditional work hours including evenings and weekends. A desire to pursue a career in sports nutrition is highly recommended. This position will be paid at an hourly rate, bi-weekly. You will gain experience in a Division I Athletics program and be mentored by three Full Time Sports Dietitians
Hours worked 29 hr/wk- schedule to be determined by supervisor.
Hourly rate is $25/hr
