Job description

Important Note: We are looking for AWS Application Architect. We are NOT looking for DevOps Engineers or other infrastructure side roles. This person will be involved in migrating legacy applications to AWS Cloud. You must have both AWS and Application Architecture knowledge and experience.

Overview

Join our innovative team as an AWS Application Architect and lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure, and efficient cloud solutions. In this role you will spearhead the modernization and migration of our software ecosystem. In this role, you will bridge the gap between application development and cloud architecture. You will be responsible for evaluating legacy on-premises applications, redesigning them for cloud-native environments, and continuously optimizing our existing AWS application deployments for maximum performance, scalability, and cost efficiency. In this dynamic role, you will leverage your expertise in cloud architecture to drive transformative projects that enhance our cloud infrastructure and services. Your passion for cloud computing and solution architecture will empower us to deliver cutting-edge applications and services across diverse platforms, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability. This position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of cloud-based applications in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Role Expectations

  • Application Migration: Lead the migration of legacy, monolithic applications from on-premises environments to AWS, determining the best strategy (Replatforming, Refactoring, or Re-architecting) for each workload.
  • Performance Tuning & Optimization: Audit existing AWS application deployments to identify performance bottlenecks, optimize database queries/caching, and fine-tune resource allocation to improve application speed and reduce latency.
  • Cloud-Native Design: Architect scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant application patterns utilizing containerized microservices and serverless architectures.
  • Developer Enablement: Establish architectural patterns, blueprints, and reusable components that allow software engineering teams to build and deploy to AWS safely and rapidly.
  • Data Layer Modernization: Guide the transition from traditional legacy databases to modern cloud data stores, managing database replication, caching layers, and migration workflows.
  • AWS services such as S3, VPC, EC2, Lambda, and other cloud-native tools to meet business requirements.
  • Develop and enforce cloud security best practices including identity and access management (IAM), encryption protocols, FedRAMP compliance standards, and network security configurations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create solution architectures that incorporate virtualization (VMware, OpenStack), SaaS offerings, PaaS platforms, and virtualization technologies like Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
  • Automate deployment processes to improve efficiency using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, or Ruby; optimize system performance through continuous monitoring and tuning.
  • Provide expert guidance on system design for distributed systems, web services (RESTful APIs), database integration (MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL), and application development frameworks (.NET, Java, Ruby on Rails).

Requirements

Role Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years explicitly focused on designing and migrating systems to AWS.
  • Migration Patterns: Proven track record of successfully migrating legacy enterprise applications to cloud environments (including decoupling monoliths into microservices).
  • AWS Application & Compute Services: Deep expertise in container orchestration (ECS, EKS, Fargate), serverless components (Lambda, API Gateway), and caching/messaging tools (ElastiCache, SQS, SNS).
  • Performance & Observability: Strong hands-on experience using APM tools (e.g., Datadog, New Relic, AWS X-Ray, CloudWatch) to profile application performance and troubleshoot distributed systems.
  • Technical Background: Strong background in full-stack development or backend software engineering (e.g., Java, .NET, Node.js, Python, or Go).

Preferred Qualifications (Not required but will be highly valued)

  • Certifications: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
  • Database Migration: Experience with AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) and transitioning from proprietary engines (SQL Server, Oracle) to open-source or cloud-native alternatives (Aurora, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
  • CI/CD: Experience designing continuous deployment pipelines specifically tailored for zero-downtime application releases (Blue/Green or Canary deployments).

Join us to be at the forefront of cloud innovation—where your expertise will directly impact how we deliver reliable digital solutions across the globe!
