The Renaissance Center, part of Arkas Restaurant Group, is Joliet’s premier banquet and event venue. We host everything from elegant weddings and corporate galas to intimate private events, offering exceptional service and elevated cuisine. Our group is known for operational excellence, culinary creativity, and a commitment to hospitality.
We are currently seeking a Banquet Chef to lead and execute all kitchen operations for the Renaissance Center. This is a hands-on leadership role for a skilled culinary professional who thrives in high-volume, event-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and execute all banquet food preparation, production, and presentation for events up to 400+ guests
Develop event-specific menus in coordination with the Events Director and Executive Team
Ensure consistency, quality, and timing of all dishes during service
Manage and train banquet kitchen staff, ensuring proper prep, setup, and breakdown for each event
Maintain health, sanitation, and safety standards in compliance with local health department regulations
Monitor food and labor costs to stay within budget while maintaining quality standards
Maintain equipment and inventory, ordering as needed
Work collaboratively with the front-of-house team for smooth execution and guest satisfaction
Innovate and elevate offerings to align with Arkas Restaurant Group’s standards and reputation
Qualifications:
Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Banquet Chef or Executive Sous Chef in a banquet, hotel, or catering setting
Proven ability to lead a team and manage multiple events simultaneously
Strong knowledge of diverse cuisines and high-volume food production
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Comfortable creating elegant presentations and executing buffet, plated, and action-station events
ServSafe certifications
Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as event schedule demands
