Summary
We are seeking a Barn Manager to oversee our equine program at HH. This role is vital in providing therapeutic experiences through animal interaction, contributing to the overall well-being of our youth residents. The Barn Manager will ensure the care and management of our animals while promoting a safe and nurturing environment.
Duties Include:
- Manage and provide care for all horses on the HH property.
- Organize and maintain the supplies and equipment used within the Equine-Assisted Therapy Program.
- Provide oversight and maintenance of the barn and surrounding area.
- Engage in horse training and exercise.
- Coordinate veterinary and farrier appointments and records.
- Provide support to the client and Equine-Assisted Therapy Professional during riding sessions.
- Train and coordinate volunteers for weekend feeding and care in collaboration with the Director of Creative Therapies.
- Assist with coverage for weekend and holiday feeding.
- Participate in the evaluation process of potential new horses added to the program.
- Support the Director of Creative Therapies with other animal care and the upkeep of the pet therapy room.
Requirements:
- 21 years of age
- Valid driver's license and a driving record that can be approved for driving HH vehicles
- High school diploma or the equivalent
- Knowledge and practice working safely with horses and children
- An understanding of the equipment necessary to work with horses within a therapeutic environment
- Knowledge of proper dietary and health practices for horses
