Porter Scott, an established Sacramento law firm, is seeking a billing assistant with 0-3 years of experience in an administrative or accounting-related field. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and will be reliable, energetic, and a self-starter. Good grammar, spelling and attention to detail required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manage corporate card transactions on a weekly basis
Manage mileage expenses after each payroll
Monitor US Bank account for fraud protection on weekly basis
Add AP checks to Positive Pay on a weekly basis
Manage Greenfiling charges on a monthly basis ensuring fees are added to the correct Porter Scott case.
Manage Logikull costs report, ensuring fees are assigned to the correct Porter Scott case.
Other special projects as needed up to and including researching unassigned check payments, unapplied payments report (refunding clients or moving credits to other cases), summarizing client guidelines and other duties as needed.
The Billing Assistant shall be directly supervised by the Financial Administrator and/or Firm Administrator. The individual shall be responsible for managing his/her own workload and accomplishing assigned work in a timely manner.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
A basic knowledge and understanding of the overall organization of the firm.
Ability to use mature judgment, work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work effectively under pressure.
Ability to effectively communicate via telephone or in person.
Ability to deal with others in a professional manner.
Ability to operate the Tabs Computerized Billing Software; and various photocopy and facsimile machines.
Thorough knowledge of computers and the application of word processing.
General understanding and performance of proper law office ethics and confidentiality of all client matters and the firm’s relationship with clients (i.e., billing rates, billing cycles), non-public information relating to clients and files as well as the firm’s general business practices.
