At Lorenz Clinic, we’ve developed the Brief Intervention Clinic as a distinct service line for clients who are seeking focused, short-term support. This program was designed to address low-acuity concerns like situational stress, adjustment issues, or early-stage emotional difficulties using structured models that work best when care is time-limited and clearly defined.
The Brief Intervention Clinic is one of several clinical programs at Lorenz. While our outpatient psychotherapy and training programs are known for relational depth and long-form developmental work, this service line was created to meet a different but equally important need. It complements our broader mission—rather than replacing or redefining it.
Here, licensed counselors deliver brief, structured episodes of care using models like Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Brief CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and psychoeducational strategies. The work is anchored in professional clarity and supported by a clinic culture that values tone, structure, and alignment.
This isn’t a high-turnover, churn-and-burn environment. You’ll work within a system that knows what it is, offers support without overreach, and protects both staff and clients through clearly defined roles.
About Lorenz Clinic
Lorenz Clinic is a clinician-led, family psychology institute committed to clinical excellence, reflective practice, and systems-informed care. We operate multiple service lines, including early childhood day treatment, intensive outpatient groups, traditional outpatient psychotherapy, psychological testing, and the Brief Intervention Clinic.
We are perhaps best known for our nationally respected Post-Master’s Fellowship, our emphasis on family systems and relational models, and our commitment to staff development through reflective supervision and training. At Lorenz, depth isn’t a buzzword- it’s part of the air we breathe.
The Brief Intervention Clinic was built not to dilute that mission, but to serve a different kind of clinical need with the same attention to integrity. By creating a clearly bounded home for low-acuity cases, we preserve the strength of our psychotherapy programs and offer staff who value professional clarity a meaningful clinical path.
About the Role
As a licensed counselor in the Brief Intervention Clinic, you’ll work with clients who are seeking brief, actionable support. Most episodes span 5–8 sessions and focus on concrete goals. Clients are referred into this program based on level of care determinations at intake, and escalation pathways are in place when deeper or more long-term support is warranted.
You’ll work within an interdisciplinary system that includes psychotherapy, group therapy, psychiatry, and testing, offering consult access and a strong peer network. You’ll also participate in reflective consultation groups tailored to this model, with time protected for documentation, supervision, and professional development.
This position is salaried, with full benefits and flexibility for hybrid work depending on clinic needs.
How this role is different:
Unlike traditional EAP or assessment-heavy roles, this position offers licensed clinicians the chance to do focused, low-acuity therapy within a well-bounded scope without being pulled into crisis work, organizational consulting, or system-wide triage. And unlike our long-form psychotherapy roles at Lorenz, which are built for deeper, developmental engagement, this role is designed for clinicians who find meaning in structured, short-term care with clear parameters. Whether you're drawn to the clarity of briefer episodes or seeking a rhythm that protects your energy without sacrificing integrity, the Brief Intervention Clinic allows you to practice inside a system that holds you with the same steadiness we offer our clients.
This role is ideal for counselors who believe that doing focused work well- within clear, bounded scope- is not only sustainable, it's essential to restoring dignity and longevity in the mental health profession.

Selection into our practice is competitive. Whereas the biggest, loudest clinics hire anyone and everyone, we tend to hire under 5% because we’re focused on quality. Cover letters are not required but do stand out, as they help us learn more about you and ensure the best fit for all-involved. Application materials may be submitted through the clinic’s job board at https://lorenzclinic.com/join-us/. Candidates are evaluated through variegated means based on a multitude of factors including but not limited to clinical competence (knowledge, skills, and attitudes), ability to perform job duties to a high degree of quality, potential to positively impact the field, and consistency with the clinic’s Core Values and mission. The ability to think systemically, developmentally, and relationally are highly prized. We evaluate candidates based not only on credentials but also on mission alignment, relational depth, and the capacity to thrive in a reflective, values-driven culture.
Please note: Candidates without independent licensure will be reviewed through our Fellowship pathway and considered for related roles under the title Brief Intervention Fellow with corresponding compensation.
