Business Administrator – Mental Health Outpatient Counseling Agency
The Business Administrator will be a critical role in ensuring the smooth, compliant, and financially sustainable operation of the organization. This position bridges clinical and administrative functions, requiring a nuanced understanding of behavioral health services, healthcare operations, and specialized billing protocols.
A strong foundation in clinical billing practices—including knowledge of CPT codes, ICD-10 diagnoses, DSM-5 classifications, insurance authorizations, Medicaid/Medicare requirements, and managed care protocols—is essential. The administrator must ensure accurate documentation, timely claims submission, and effective denial management, while working closely with clinical staff to uphold ethical and regulatory standards.
Beyond billing, the Business Administrator must demonstrate operational leadership by managing budgets, supervising administrative staff, supporting compliance with HIPAA and other legal mandates, maintaining accreditation standards, and optimizing systems for scheduling, electronic health records (EHR), and client communication. Equally important is the capacity to understand and support the agency’s therapeutic mission, ensuring that financial decisions reflect client-centered care and access to services.
