POSITION SUMMARY
Our company seeks a charismatic, self-motivated buyer to purchase various commodities. As a Buyer I for the organization, the buyer will research, evaluate, and buy products to meet our daily operational needs.
- Issue requests for quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and select best source consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Ability to turn a high volume of orders for mostly commercial off the shelf items
- Most purchasing done through distributors
- Address over-shipments, delivery shortages, changes in quantity, delivery dates and prices, and report such changes to the interested parties in a timely manner as required
- Seek new suppliers based on the best price, quality, availability, reliability, and customer support
- Maintain purchase orders to ensure accurate quantity, pricing, and delivery while thoroughly documenting any required changes within
- Focus on obtaining the best price with every purchase
- Schedules regular meetings with suppliers to review orders
- Willingness to learn new commodities
- BA or BS in Business Administration, Operations Planning, Supply Chain, or a related field preferable, or 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing setting
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age (or a minimum of 18 years of age in CT, PA and WV).
- Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
- Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a cheerful disposition
- Ability to function independently, be flexible, display personal integrity, and work effectively with all employees and departments
- Knowledge and understanding of purchasing procedures
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Observant, inquisitive and attentive
- Effective organization and time management skills
- Basic ERP/MRP experience
- Basic Relationships with supply base
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work and perform well under pressure
- Ability to type and operate standard office equipment daily
- Minimal travel to different locations within a specific geographic area.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. A comprehensive benefits package including paid time off is offered with this position. This position will work an average of 40 hours per week and will be available “after hours” if an emergency situation should arise.
