Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic aerospace material and component buyer to join our procurement team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the purchasing process, ensuring that materials and products are acquired at the best possible price and quality. This role requires strong negotiation skills and a solid understanding of inventory management systems. The Buyer will play a crucial role in supporting production planning and logistics to meet the operational needs of the company.
Duties
- Manage the procurement process for materials and products, ensuring timely delivery and optimal inventory levels.
- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing.
- Collaborate with production planning teams to forecast material needs based on production schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels using systems such as AS400 and Oracle EBS, ensuring efficient materials management.
- Analyze market trends and supplier performance to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Coordinate logistics for incoming shipments, ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information.
Experience
- Proven experience in a buying or procurement role, with a strong understanding of inventory management practices.
- Familiarity with logistics processes and production planning is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using inventory management systems, particularly AS400 and Oracle EBS.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of successful supplier engagement.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess market conditions and supplier capabilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
