Cashier

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and friendly Cashier to join our team in a fast-paced retail environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in customer service and retail sales, with a strong ability to handle cash transactions accurately. As a Cashier, you will be the first point of contact for our customers, providing them with exceptional service while efficiently processing their purchases. Your role will also involve merchandising and stocking products to enhance the shopping experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting with product selections.
• Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions while maintaining accuracy in cash handling and register balancing.
• Perform basic math calculations for transactions and ensure proper change is given.
• Assist in merchandising efforts by organizing product displays and ensuring shelves are stocked appropriately.
• Conduct product demonstrations to promote sales and enhance customer engagement.
• Upsell products when appropriate to increase sales volume.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area and surrounding displays.
• Demonstrate effective communication skills when interacting with customers and team members.

Skills

• Proficient in operating POS systems and handling cash transactions.
• Previous experience in retail sales or cashiering is preferred.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse customers, including bilingual capabilities being a plus.
• Basic math skills for accurate transaction processing and cash handling.
• Experience in merchandising and stocking products to create appealing displays.
• Ability to supervise junior staff or assist in training new employees as needed.
• Excellent phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
