Hours are Monday - Friday 7- 3:30 or 8-4:30
Purpose or General Objective: To sort, hang and tag donated merchandise.
Essential Duties:
- Sort through donated goods while determining quality textile and bin to hang and seasonal merchandise to store.
- Continually hang and tag textile and maintain a level of processing performance of at least 90 pieces per hour with no more than 5% bale
- Correctly label carts and Gaylords as “SEASONAL” or “BALE”
- Ability to work productively without close supervision.
- Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with all employees, participants, customers and consumers working with and for Goodwill Industries.
- Transfer Z-Racks, carts and Gaylords to the appropriate staging area within the plant
- Weigh product as directed by supervisor
- Maintain a safe and orderly work environment by following safety procedures and report injuries and safety hazards
- Maintain good housekeeping skills including sweeping and cleaning work area at the end of shift
Additional Duties:
- Other duties as assigned by the Charlotte Plant Supervisor, Transportation Supervisor, Operations Manager, Retail Director or Vice President of Retail and Donated Goods.
Physical Requirements:
- Have the ability to bend, reach and lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Have the ability to carry, push, pull, otherwise move, and organize merchandise on a regular basis. May involve use of a pallet jack.
- Ability to obtain valid forklift license.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is preferred
We are searching for someone dependable to join our team. As a Textile Production Employee you will process donations collected from the community and get them ready to sell in the stores. This helps people in that community and others in Central Michigan get work experience, job training, and other services.
You will be working with a small team in a production environment. We collect a variety of items from household goods to clothing. You should feel comfortable handling used and donated goods in this position and have the ability to lift and carry items of various sizes.
