CHEMISTRY ANALYST - METALS (PA): Chemistry Degree & Laboratory Experience Required

CHEMISTRY ANALYST POSITION SUMMARY: This is an analytical position responsible for various laboratory support functions to include instrument tuning, equipment maintenance, and analysis of quality control data.
CHEMISTRY ANALYST ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Works with Head of Chemistry Department and Instrument Specialist to ensure lab efficiencies for prioritization, workflow, and sample preparation
- Provides for sample preparation, loading and running of instruments, calibration, standard preparation, and instrument tuning
- Identifies opportunities for improvement; works with Department Head to implement new and improved methods and processes
- Prepares calibrations and verifies quality controls for laboratory instruments and methods; uses data to recognize and/or correct possible processing or instrument errors
- Acquires and analyzes data used to perform and report analytical laboratory testing of cannabis products; must be competent in at least one analytical method, as identified by management
- Assists with the validation of test methods and with Research and Development (R&D) related activities
- Provides for the documentation and tracking of Continuing Calibration Verification (CCV) Standards for Quality Assurance
- Imports data into LIMS and Seed-to-Sale systems; submits data reports and Certificates of Analysis for supervisory approval
- Responsible for inventory oversight of crucial departmental supplies
- May also be called upon to perform the same or similar duties at other laboratory facilities, and for other job-related duties as assigned
CHEMISTRY ANALYST POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
General Knowledge/Abilities
- Ability to fluently speak and read the English language along with understanding and following both written and verbal direction
- Ability to function independently, have personal integrity, flexibility and the ability to work effectively with fellow employees
- Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations in different units of measurement
- Ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios; demonstrated abilities in troubleshooting and problem-solving
- Basic knowledge of modern office practices and use of Microsoft Office Suite for Word and Excel
- Experience in driving tasks and meeting deadlines; accountable for the completion of assigned goals and objectives
- Ability to build relationships to strengthen partnerships with a focus on customer service
- Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment, standing for long periods of time, etc.
Education, Licenses/Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related field from an accredited college or university
Preferred Experience
- 3 plus years in experience in service based/customer-facing position
- 2 plus years of non-academic experience in a real-world analytical laboratory
- Relevant industry related experience in Medical Cannabis is a plus
