CHILDCARE ASSISTANT
Sunshine Learning Center
Position Reports to the Room Leader. No positions report to this one.
OVERVIEW: Assist in providing a stimulating, safe, and developmentally appropriate educational environment where children have the opportunity to develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in carrying out day-to-day activities of the assigned classroom which may include:
- Distributing food
- Monitoring activities
- Enforcing room behavior rules
- Preparing and serving meals
- Assisting with art projects
- Supervising bathroom breaks
- Preparing supplies
- Diapering
- Medication administration
- Performing other related activities
- Filling out daily forms as requested
- Assists in administering and coordination of activities for assigned room
- Assist in providing a supportive and caring environment for children
- Interacts with parents, maintains open and cooperative communication with parents and families
- Complies with all state and federal licensing regulations, with center operations, child safety, and continuing education
- Performs miscellaneous job related duties as assigned
- Complete and comply with all DHS required trainings (CPR/First Aid, Universal Precautions, Mandatory Reporter, Essentials, yearly trainings, etc)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- To organize a pleasant welcoming and safe environment for children and staff
- To undertake the physical duties involved in working with young children in an early childhood setting on a daily basis
- Be able to kneel or sit on the floor in order to communicate and interact with children at their level
- To be able to carry a child in an emergency situation
- To be able to perform CPR/First Aid on a child
- To be able to actively move around the environment while supervising children
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $9.25 - $12.50 per hour
