General Description
The Cloud Administrator is responsible for the management, configuration, and optimization of cloud-based infrastructure and services. Ensures that the organization's cloud environments are secure, cost-effective, scalable, and aligned with business objectives. Works closely with other IT teams to implement cloud solutions and provides ongoing support and maintenance.
The primary schedule for this full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is located in Lecanto, Florida.
Essential Functions
- Cloud Infrastructure Management: Administers and manages cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud) to ensure optimal performance, availability, and scalability of cloud-based resources.
- Deployment & Automation: Deploys and automates cloud services and applications, ensuring streamlined provisioning, updates, and resource management.
- Security & Compliance: Implements security protocols and ensures compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. Monitors cloud infrastructure for potential vulnerabilities and addresses security risks.
- Cost Management: Monitors cloud usage and spending, optimizing resource allocation to control costs while maintaining performance standards.
- Disaster Recovery & Backup: Manages disaster recovery processes and ensures regular backup of cloud resources, data, and configurations to protect against data loss.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Uses cloud monitoring tools to proactively identify and address performance issues, bottlenecks, and system failures.
- Collaboration: Works with development, network, and system administration teams to integrate cloud services with on-premise infrastructure and internal systems.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintains detailed documentation of cloud infrastructure, configurations, and processes. Provides regular reports on cloud performance, costs, and security status.
- Cloud Strategy & Optimization: Stays up-to-date on the latest cloud technologies and industry trends. Recommends improvements to cloud architecture, tools, and workflows to enhance system efficiency and scalability.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Education, Training, and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud or similar.
- Requires experience with storage technology.
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices and cloud compliance standards.
- Strong understanding of networking, storage, and virtualization in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
Certificates, Licenses, Registration, Skills
- Valid Florida Driver License (or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida), or valid Florida Identification Card is acceptable only for positions not required to drive a county vehicle.
- Experience managing hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
- Security certifications are highly desirable.
- Cloud certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect.
- Must have strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) for documenting processes and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Ability and experience speaking formally and informally to management, groups of co-workers, staff in other organizational agencies, the public, and people in other organizations.
- Ability and experience presenting training; composing original reports, training, and other written materials, using proper language, punctuation, grammar, and style.
- Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

Must have or be able to obtain certification within 90 days in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses:
- IS-100.c: Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS)
- IS-700.b: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
- Requires sitting most of the day.
- The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 20 pounds.
- The job requires frequent balancing, and occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching above shoulders.
- The job requires the completion of tasks that involve typing, simple grasping, and fine manual manipulation
- The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking.

Emergency Response/Recovery Activities
- All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location, and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens. Emergency response duties may also include driving and/or operating a county vehicle or equipment and employees must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
