Drone Pilot Job Opportunity – 1099 Contract (Livermore, CA)
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Drone Pilot to support a large-scale construction project with aerial imagery and site monitoring in Livermore, CA. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of drone operations, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to navigate complex environments while adhering to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
This is a 1099 contract position with a defined scope and pay structure. Top-performing pilots may have opportunities for additional work or full-time employment in the future.
Job Details:
Construction Monitoring (Daily Site Support)
- Location: Livermore, CA
- Timing: July 2025 – September 2026
- Scope: Daily drone flights and ground imagery to support the construction team with site monitoring and progress tracking
- Schedule: Monday – Thursday, 10 hours per day on-site
Responsibilities
- Operate drones for construction monitoring while ensuring compliance with FAA Part 107 regulations and safety protocols.
- Conduct pre-flight checks and basic drone maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Capture high-quality aerial and ground imagery to track site progress.
- Upload drone images and videos into project databases in a timely manner.
- Plan and execute flight paths in collaboration with the construction team to collect necessary data for GIS applications.
- Analyze captured imagery and provide insights for construction tracking and reporting.
- Communicate effectively with clients and project managers to ensure data accuracy and project alignment.
- Stay updated on FAA regulations and technological advancements in drone mapping and aerial surveying.
Requirements Must Have:
- FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
- Valid driver’s license
- Mavic 3 Enterprise (M3E) with RTK Module or equivalent, with sufficient batteries to support flying up to 300 acres per day
- Reliable transportation to and from the job site (pilot is responsible for their own travel expenses)
- Cell phone with nationwide coverage
- Internet connectivity, including mobile access for file uploads, document review, and cloud-based applications
- Drone Liability Insurance (minimum $1M coverage, with the ability to provide a Certificate of Insurance)
- Strong communication and writing skills to interface with clients and provide reports
- Camera for ground photos with at least 50+ Megapixels ( Phone cameras not allowed)
Nice to Have:
- Experience flying drones for power lines, construction sites, roads, and land surveys
- GIS knowledge and experience working with geospatial data
- Photography and videography skills for documentation and reporting
Additional Notes
This is a 1099 contract role with clear deliverables and compensation. The selected drone pilot will be expected to work independently, meet all project deadlines, and consistently deliver high-quality aerial data. Candidates who demonstrate exceptional performance may be considered for future projects.
